Sacred Heart wore Red Mr I, I'm certain of that, and played on that daft little pitch on Hart Lane.

I also wore the Red and Black Stripes of Martyrs, Number 8 shirt.

No 8 was no good for me, you had to be able to play football to be that far up the pitch. I wore no 6 in central defence (No idea why) me and a future Pools and Arsenal centre half. Come to think of it there were a few future pros in the team: Linighan Sr, Popeye Howard and the best of the lot; Michael Dryden.

I was shite!

Yeah, he was a tough lad. Not gobby or anything but strong as a bull and took no crap from anyone. I seem to remember he was playing for Newcastle Reserves at one point. He was a very useful goalie.

Did Celtic HAVE an Away strip???

yeah for when they played the other catholic side hibs. they wore gold (and as far as im aware still do) on those occasions.

i was under the impression all catholic schools played in green in the 70s. my junior school ( our lady of lourdes) wore celic strips at home, and yellow and green away, and my secondary school played in green and gold. we never played against another catholic school that didnt play in green or yellow. and we werent allowed to play against proddie schools.

my school uniform was green, with green and gold ties.

i heard a rumour you were allowed to play in purple during lent. dunno if thats true like.

Fens were kitted out like Master of Disguise says when I played against them in about 1985.

I didn't actually attend Rossmere Primary school, but I did work there - does that count ??

If so, from what I remember their strips were red and white stripes 'cos the PE teacher was a S'land fan - although they may have changed it since I left.

As above tho we did have to get new strips as the afore mentioned must have worn everyone as they were rather large for us normal sized people.....and it was def Crystal Palace and Manor lost its Borstal title and became a school after the riots had stopped

Rossy was all red with a tacky blue trim when I was there, it was the material that you strike matches on. Similar to no team in the world. There was a Everton style kit as well but some shorts were missing so it was rarely used.

I remember fens had 2 kits, one white shorts, green tops and the other red and blue stripes.

Aidans played in an ac milan/pools away style kit.

Stranton looked like Celtic.

Grange were all in yellow.

Brierton was white shorts, black and white stripes for the top, like Juve....

Apparently primary school footie is no longer 11 a side.

I see Mick a lot, I've known him for years!! We used to be in the last dozen hardcore regulars of the Clansman bar before it closed its doors in the mid 90's. His mam lived next door to me in Belk Street for years
