Loads of the games depend on who gets in the play offs or relegated, Boro being one of them looking for a play off spot although I think their chances are very slim.

I agree, they would first have to beat Coventry away and then still be relying on other results. Think Carrick could be on his way- their fans have been giving him pelters for weeks.
.
One thing they do have in their favour unlike any other club is Steve Gibson as chairman - THE best fan/ owner by a country mile, hope they do it for his sake. Don't think the Smoggies truly appreciate just how lucky they have been with him at the helm for the last 40 years or so.

Well at least that's their level

Looking at the final table even a win wouldn't have been enough for them today.

And yet they slag Gibson off for not signing better players and allowing existing decent players to leave. The problem at the Boro is that far too many of their fans seriously believe that they 'belong' in the top flight this despite history proving otherwise. Their glory days of Ravanelli, Juhninho etc are long gone but a large number of fans EXPECT those days to return. Similar to some Pools fans expectant of a return to our IOR L1 promotion chasing days when we are a million miles away from that at present.

Whoa…..if you haven’t got ‘expectations’ why go. Footballs all about expectations, if not, what’s the bloody point.

You only need to read this forum to see that many have low expectations but high hopes. Personally I like a bet on the football but rarely ever bet on Pools because you never know what to expect.

Sorry Snowy but after 60 years of following Pools I have learned to expect absolutely nothing. However I still attend matches in the hope that success is just around the corner - more fool me.

Expecting doesn’t mean you get rewarded…a bit like lottery tickets…if it was true we wouldn’t support Pools………I expect nothing, but even nothing is a target….if Pools crashed out of existence next week….no other club would replace them for me..it’s like a marriage..an acquired taste, but even irony is sometimes enjoyable.

I agree with most of that post, up until you mention marriage- you can change your wife - you can't change your club.

It would be nice to just once, win a league and manage just ONE appearance at Wembley. Every other club seems to have done that, apart from us. Hasn't happened in my forty odd years of following through thin and thinner.
I just hope we can manage that before I'm toes up- surely that's not too much to expect!

Pools n Boro more or less the same.

Over supported without rewards.

Some decent crowds in division 4 yesterday.
Carlisle 8000
Notts County 15000
Bradford 24000
Is that a new record or did Sheffield United back in the 80s get more.

If they had beaten Coventry, Boro would have been on 67 points putting Coventry back on 66 points.
Boro would therefore have finished 6th and been in the play offs.

Success attracts new ‘fans’…one lad who always slagged Pools off at work surprised me when ai saw him and his ‘wife’ (I hope) taking their seats in the Cyril Knowles Stand after the IOR takeover…..he’d even bought season tickets….fecking hypocrite

Dunston got beat 5 3 on penalties.
A bad end to the North East non league scene.

I expect us not to be shit in the non league scene.
But hope to get to div 3 when in div 4.

That's normal standard for a Poolie.

Fcuk this pathetic acceptance of fast Sinkership.
That's just for tossers. :angry-tappingfoot:

They take some house training, once you’ve cracked that though, you’re laughing.
Mine’s what you’d call work in progress sadx

its not accepting it willingly and enjoying it though. we all hope to leave it behind at the end of next season but expecting it to happen only makes the situation worse. its not as if any one of us can change things only for the worse by not turning up for home games.

If the Boro had succeeded in getting promotion they would need to buy a full squad of players as none of the existing would last 2 minutes in the PL. Whoever goes up will come down next year. The gulf now is massive and you cannot turnaround a CL club now to meet the rigours of the PL.

Luton Town after all the furore of them getting to the Premier League relegated after 1 season and now relegated again this season, they are now building a 25000 capacity new stadium away from Kenilworth Road.

Think it's the first season ever that the 3 promoted club's all got relegated from the PL.
Even the gap between the top handful of Championship clubs and the rest is growing.

think there will be two next season as well and unless leeds really splash the cash lower mid table is the best they can hope for. Can see all three of the teams promoted from league 1 struggling next season like those promoted before to the championship have.

they,ll only ever fill that if they turn it into a mosque after they groudshare with dunstable town. luton could win the champions league but would still be a level 3 team in my eyes.

Fans have turned up for home games in their thousands and that hasn't seemed to help one jot, full house in semi final and 25 k at Palace also didn't seem to help. So for the club to now ask for fans to once again buy season tickets without knowing a thing is another step too far.

Lootown have dropped a bollock there!
My sauce tells me that a company called Spirit of George are behind their new stadium, with a tag line of 'Build it, and they will Cum!' bbolt

Details are still a bit sketchy at the current time, however I believe Gold Taps, a Carvery and something called Heskulators have been mentioned several times in local parlance!

It's not that long (2009) since Luton Town spent five years at Level 5 before they bounced back to the EFL in 2014 under owners and subsequently soared to the PL. We've only been at L5 for 2 years - it couldn't happen here - could it?

I'd be happy with a competitive mid table league 1 team- amongst our old adversaries. Which I believe is a realistic target, given our fanbase etc.

without any ground improvements we,d be one of the lowest supported teams in that league even with a full house every week. a big fish where we are, an average one in league 2 but a sprat higher up we go. its all back to future club ownership again.
