Took my 6pm stroll along Seaton front and the last two times it’s been really pleasant in the fine weather and noticed ‘Millibands future’ were a hive of inactivity.
For the second day running, out of 27 wind turbines only four were turning like slow motion break dancers at an over 80’s club….the rest were stood still in a coma…that or the elastic bands have snapped.

Doesn't make sense at all, you'd expect every wind turbine to be turning all the time it's available and thereby we'd reduce imported electricity which should reduce bills (theory).

Went for a 8 mile walk yesterday, and it was one of those time stood still days, eerily quiet, not many people about etc. Shorts on today for a walk along the beach.

you know that, i know that but the buggers have there list of excuses and reasons for all that which many love to swallow. don,t they have to switch em off also if its too windy and could burn out. Bit like driving a convertable car with the hood stuck down. only available for when the weather suits a few days a year.

Had to laugh at that idiot Kevin McGuire on GMB today justifying our highest in Europe energy costs by saying its down to global markets for gas.
Nothing to do with the fact that almost every energy supplier is privately owned (many foreign) and therefore out solely to make as much profit as possible, taxed with VAT (weren't essentials excluded from VAT at it's conception), green levies, etc
Milligan keeps claiming he's working towards energy security yet as a country our energy supplies lie firmly in foreign hands - it doesn't matter a jot if we produced all our electricity from wind and solar, the likes of EDF are never going to cut profits or guarantee our energy supplies. Nationalisation of key utilities should be a priority for all governments.

The problem is electricity prices are based on the marginal cost of gas and we are the highest users of gas in Europe. Two things need to happen, use less gas and delink electricity prices from gas (sounds v crazy but electricity also comes from gas power stations.)

Wholesale costs of gas are universal though, so the reasons for our prices being highest are entirely down to profit-making companies and taxes.

free parking and charging points for season ticket holders with milk floats and reductions in the club shop for those coming to the vic by sustainable transportation. on the back of that everything sold there will be made by illegal immegrants in there underground sweat shop built under the pitch who see the light of day if there is a match on to be stewards or gate men. the director of sweat shops coul be the testimonial gift to feathers for weight reduction.

Isn’t it actually cheaper to use conventional means of power generation and the wind turbines only kick in when the demand increases, they are all foreign owned.

I have no grief against windmills and solar panels, but expecting them to be the front line so to speak is lunacy.
As you say Jamie let them take the load when permittedbut a more reliable source is needed for a system to dork smoothly.

Milliband is away with the fairy’s.
Even Blair’s on this morning about Net Zero being a waste of time and doomed saying the public should not have to suffer lifestyle changes.
McGuire…the most miserable man on TV…he comes on, I switch off…works wonders.

He is right the U.K. pays what the market cost is irrespective of its a private buyer, thank Thatcher for selling off North Sea Oil and Gas.
Where Does the UK Get Its Gas From? (2025)
The UK primarily imports natural gas from Norway, followed by the United States. While the UK has its own production from the North Sea, it relies on imports to meet total demand. Belgium and other countries also contribute to the UK's gas supply

But the point I'm making is that we pay the same market price to buy the gas to power the generating stations. So cost price for Europe is the same as the UK, the sale price of electricity in the UK is higher than the rest of Europe because of taxes and profits for the supplying company shareholders and employee bonuses.
Remember VAT was introduced as a tax on luxury items, since when was gas and electric for your house a luxury?

Just remembered too didn't the government relax or reduce VAT on gas and electric during covid? Should have abolished it permanently.

The governments of the world have let billionaires frisk people as much as they can until were at the point now where most people cant afford to really live. Trillions of debt for the people and thousands of billionaires who can just move to Grand Cayman or Monaco. Thats the power of democracy. What a joke. People are stupid to have let this get to where we are today.

The gas from the North Sea doesn’t belong to the U.K., it’s sold on the world markets and we buy it back again.
