Providing Pools can keep 11 players on the pitch a narrow win by 1 goal.

Forgot it was bank holiday there. Noticed it was 1-1 so watched first half. Usual shit no midfield , we sit back and defend with Parkes playing his heart out. We hoof the ball out of the box in a general direction of a player but nobody looks up to play any intelligent passes . It’s just hoof , hope and chase like junior football . Even simple passes are beyond most places as pools are just too rushed. Agree that most players have that can’t wait for the season to end mind set. Funny that I feel the same too.

Years ago teams used to have a player on each post when defending corners. If we had done that today their first goal would have had a good chance of being prevented.

I've mentioned this a few times previously.
Old school management.
Keep your left n right back on the posts when defending corner And Free kicks.

Our Sunday afternoon manager instructed this when we won the league about 27 years ago.

Me n Our kid full backs.
Some cracking players in front of us like.

Just waiting for the obvious replys

Totally agree but the opposition put 10 players in the box and the players man mark them Derwent. It’s been mentioned here before put one of our players on the halfway line, Gray, one out wide Cleary meaning the opposition have to pull 3 players back for cover, it’s not rocket science.

put anyone who cannot defend up top as they are more likely to get in the way of a team mate who can actually defend. if you want them back then as derwent said put them on the posts out of the thick of the action. having that was once the norm in football for years until coaches tried to complicate the game more than needed.

It's impossible for the opposition to have ten players in the box, unless the goalie comes up for every corner , which is never going to hsppen.
The guy taking the corner is not in the box.

A big disappointment for me yesterday was when the game was lost and meaningless we turned to the same old subs which offered very little, there were a couple of the kids on the bench who could have been given a bit of time.

Torquay did and he scored although it was brilliant to see the smile wiped of his face at the end of the penalty shoot out.

As expected, nailed on home win of the season, and as I've said before, Pools rarely win, in fact I must check the stats, when Parkes isn't playing, so when he was taken off, I thought that's it.

Did Cleary and Miley actually play today, easily their worst games so far.

And then before you know it, yet again, from taking an early lead, we are chasing the game, and what do you do, NOT ! when chasing a game? bring Featherstone on, unbelievable.

Having second thoughts now about keeping Limbrick as manager and Madine as a back up player next season, clearly he can't play a full 90 minutes, and that is not acceptable at this level. Both him and Featherstone should be put out to grass.

might keep madine to see what he offers after a full pre season with us. agree that feathers should be put out of his misery and ours. would also like to know what his contribution also is on the training ground. it its not much cop then severing connections with him and the club would be the best.

Majority of our team are lazy n not 100%ters.
Madine Skillfull but very lazy.
Not a chance MannyD gets a move to the Efl.
Stand by what I've said for a while next seasons team only gets worser than what it is now.

Just don't have any hope in a successful debt free takeover on the horizon.
It's already to late to function into a successful season unless we find some miracle worker like King David.

thing is with him is that he is only a national league player but we expected him to be something he never was a football league striker.

thats one of the reason we cannot nick a game with a goal like others do. how many points have we dropped against the 100% ers even when we look to have the most skillful players in the side.

Eye,he called the players out at half time at a Chesterfield away game.
Asked them if they were men,as the opposition were kicking them & Pools weee taking it.
He told them to man up & give it back.
Quite embarrassing to be told that.

Yes Covolan did score for Torquay but it is very rare and the other questions are, when he did was every other Torquay player, except the set piece taker, actually in the box when the corner was taken and It has been suggested to me that he didn't score from a corner but from a free kick. Anybody???
It has got me thinking of the the occasions I have actually witnessed a goalie scoring in a game of footie I've attended. I must have seen thousands of set pieces and corners in my time watching footie and I'm struggling with the answer. At Pools games I can remember Covolan and I think Flinders did it. Kenny Simpkins did it a few times but only as an out player. Can anybody add to that?????

Didn't a Carlisle keeper (Glass??) do it back in the day to keep them in the league with a last gasp effort?
I can remember Simpkin playing as an emergency striker.

Saw a documentary on YouTube about Jimmy Glass's goal that saved Carlisle, and apparently he never has to pay for a pint when he visits the place.
