The clowns who cancelled the booking system want putting in the stocks.
Tesco roundabout jammed this morning by traffic for the tip queueing up Burn Road.
Weekends are a nightmare too with queues up to and beyond the Tesco traffic lights…adding to the confusion are people thinking it’s a traffic jam and join the queue for the tip too unintentionally.
It’s the same every weekend, a bloody free for all.
Trouble is you load the car up and think it’ll be quiet then there’s a big queue and you sit for ages or take it back…whe you do get in everyone is jostling for the same skip.
Coincillors Eh.

And weren’t as many complaints when the booking system was introduced ?

I have just been down and its v v busy in there. Originally I disliked the booking in service and said so on the bumker at the time. However after making many trips under that system I found it worked a treat. I would now definitely prefer it changing back to bookings.

I was there during Covid and was well aware of the appointment booking system Snowy and waiting round the corner from the tip as they were only allowing so many cars in at a time and you were escorted by a council van to the tip. One thing for sure the local authorities here have a better system of garbage collection, every other day.

The clues in the word ‘Covid’ the rules were very different…..your opinions on the Thai bin system are of no interest to me whatsoever.

Prefer to just turn up at the tip? Then use the "Thornley" one that's actually closer to Shotton than Thornley.

Pick me and my two old mattresses up on your way, and let me drive the car in (County Durham address on my licence) and the job's a good-un.

Or if you fancy a bit of time-travel, we'll go to Horden instead. I guarantee you'll get priority treatment if I'm driving the car in.

I went to the tip yesterday & as Snowy has said the queue was up past Tesco, I must have waited over 20 minutes to get in, then it was a free for all once inside the tip. It's going to take a major accident for the clowns in charge to go back to the booking system, which I never had a problem with, much better than this farce we have now.

Not sure what has caused it as before the booking system we never had these problems of long queues, but back then the tip was open 7 days a week instead of the 5 days a week. Is that the problem?

I understand people can turn up as many times as they like because there’s no registration, so anyone can dump there now…under the booking system someone coming three times a day every day would be spotted, because for all we know businesses could be using it.

Last year at times I asked if it was alright to go 4 / 5 even 6 times a day. They had no problems giving me spaced out booking times all day. All they would ask if I wanted multi time bookings for that day or over a few days was what are you bringing that needs so many bookings. I said emptying my sheds and they said yes thats absolutely fine.

wish we could have a booking system for our one and only tip. hear horror stories of queues taking a couple of hours to do a ten minute job or a couple of minutes years back when you could just dump everything in one spot. then the council are shocked at the rise of fly tipping. not saying thats acceptable but after a long wait in a queue you can understand why people do it but not councillors who live in another world.

I have like, friggin' years ago when they still had the sense to keep failing our lass.

They finally let death on the roads when she eventually passed at the age of 55. She'd failed all of her previous ones from stalling at roundabouts, and when she did the same (with me in the passenger seat shitting myself) at the one near the Raby Arms, I went back to Tonesies and traded her car for an automatic.

She loves that TV show "Police Interceptors", but misses the irony that she's their number-one target...!
