Every week a sparrowhawk comes in my garden and the rest of the birds shit themselves and disappear. Its like they've all mysteriously vanished into some star trek type thing.
It sits there on my fence, looking all hard and cool, checking about but seeing nothing, then flies off after about twenty minutes.
Ten seconds later, all the birds are back, all the starlings trying to peck each others heads off to get at the peanuts.

We get loads of birds in the garden too.

I've been trying to convince Mrs R that we should put bird tables and stuff right by trees and bushes were cats could hide so that we might see a few cartoon like altercations but she isn't up for moving them from what she considers to be their current safe locations.

Thats sick, but funny

perhaps you could introduce a dog into the scenario, and watch them all fight to the death!

I was sitting in a pub garden in Worksop sometime last year and this pigeon came jetting across the sky, flew straight into the wall of the upstairs of the pub, bounced off the half roof and down to the ground, expiring with a comic shaking of one leg.

The reason for it's panic?? It was closely followed by a sparrow hawk. Now I'd like to say it was looking over it's shoulder as it hit the wall but hand on me heart I can't. Great mental picture though eh?? I'm glad I wasn't on me won because you'd never believe it.

at paddington station they have massive problems with pigeons, they've tried everything nets, spikes but still they come.more recently they bring in a couple of hawks once a week and let them off for a few hours of fun.they cause mayhem and it seems to keep the filthy winged rodents away for a while

The two aircraft are based at Teeside airport, they are owned by a firm in Bournemouth called FRA and are contracted to provide target services for the Royal Navy during exercises, they emulate attacks and 'other stuff' upon the ships. For the record they are Dassault Fan Jet Falcons, a French built business jet adapted for the role...problem solved.
