What is it nowadays when you say something about some news item, people say….Eeeh, you can’t say that……it’s getting like a bloody police state with the woke police tapping on the door if you have an opinion that doesn’t meet their approval.
I walk in yesterday afternoon with the hounds and our lass as usual said “OK out?”….I replied ..”there was a couple of lard arses paddling”…….followed by ..”Eeeh you can’t say that” … WHY?…. sctatchinghead

In a truly open and free society, spouting "Eeeh you can't say that" would never occur to anyone in the first place.

That's how screwed-up we are.

I go to a cardio rehab class a few times a week & apart from me & 2 others, everyone is in their 70s & 80s. After the exercises, we stay for 30 mins for a cuppa & a chat. It's like stepping back into the 1970s with the things that are said, no-one is abusive, but the opinions expressed are exactly how it should be, no-one is scared of who might be listening & say exactly what they want. There is no wokery, there are people from all political opinions & backgrounds. It's great!!

You’re amongst friends, but a lot of people are wary with strangers…..crack on though, sounds like a laugh.

I jovially mentioned to the wife that the recently acclaimed Sir Daniel Burn as a carthorse who only scored in the CC Final due to a free header that the Scouse first choice keeper Allison would have readily turned around the post. She has hardly spoken to me since - and no, she is definitely not a Mags fan!

its a drip drip drip thats been going on for a few years now but on certain subjects and about certain people. you can still say what you like about a politician, a celebrity or any white person. it all started with the non use of certain words to describe non whites and being critical of any of them gets the slur of being racist. even if you are you seem to be in that group who are convicted or murder, rape and fiddling with kids.if people do not like what you say they can piss right off as no matter what your views are there will be another who agrees with you. its a case of we have to accept a certain point of view but they will not accept ours without some slur on you.

one of those words is the paki word. at worst you could only call that lazy speech rather than insulting one and being racist. if the owner of the shop actually is from that country then whats the problem. know from a local shop i use speeking to the pakistani owner he found no offence in that word but found offence in those not using his shop because he was one and seriously doubt the owner of your local chinese bothers if you say you are off for a chinky as long as you use there place over another.

That's what I have found aswell Accy. I had accountants in Middlesbrough called " Chuhan & Singh " one partner Indian other Pakistani. Funny funny lads who are supposed to hate each other ( according to bullshit ) but these two got on like brothers. I had this conversation with them years back and they just laughed. Madge ( Pakistani ) said we don't get offended by shortening Pakistan to paki it's like calling English brits he said. He said both Indian & Pakistani are the same in that their people care only for family health happiness & hard work with good profits. The problem is the British tip toe around these things instead of getting on with their lives. Trust me if you offended them you would quickly find out you did.

so true leggie. some spend their lives protecting others and not giving offence of their behalf but they could not give a flying one about there actions as they have more important things in their life to worry about. they,ll be having even more in the future with the governments immigtation stance as they,ll be all lumped together no matter how long or how they entered the country including ones born here.

You are correct, some of them have said they will buy a gas boiler on the last day before it becomes illegal to buy one, so that they never have to have a heat pump. The same with an electric car, they mostly all drive petrol or diesel cars & will buy a new one when the law changes & keep it forever.
