Got told yesterday that Raj told the players weeks ago that he was going to rip up their contracts in the summer and was going to make them all part-time. Not sure how true this is like...anyone else heard similar??

Not a legal expert but if he decides to change the status of a players contract would they not be untitled to compensation or offered redundancy.
Different scenario but not long ago Asda wanted to change staff contracts, it was take it or leave it. P&O sacked hundreds of workers with no notice and got away with it as well.

The PFA would step in? They have the legal muscle

Probably a few players would leave instead of accepting a reduced contract, which is no bad thing

more like we,d move to what halifax had with a squad that consisted of part time and full time players for a few seasons. i,m sure we,d reach the dizzy heights we are now at doing this. there will be a few players around good enough for even league 2 football who prefer to stay part time but can have time off for the long away trips we have.

Some look very part time at the moment.

Think if that had been said 'weeks ago' it would have got into the public domain straight away. For the reason given by others - it amounts to breach of contract. Raj might think footballers are daft, but their agents aren't.

Its called a contract for a reason.
When a player is under contract, He/She holds all the cards.
Believe me i know.

He cannot alter a contract mid term, Only when the contract has run its course, He would then be able to negotiate and a player can just walk.
And any player who thought this may happen would be already in talks elsewhere, Wheather legal or not.

Thats why i said he/she holds all the cards, A player can just sit out the contract or the club/chairman can make an offer.
The contract will NOT run out till the summer, NOT the last natch.

The part time job with full time wages.
About to come crashing down at Holidaycampdurham.

Players getting there comeuppance.
Nothing good lasts forever.

Let's see how they react tomorrow.
Anutha 1 win in a row needed.
Can they manage that against the out of sorts Solihull?!

unless he is more arrogant than even we think he and every other owner knows the score. years back in the 90,s wolves had a keeper who fell out with the club, would not leave even on loan and saw out his contract for nearly 2 years and ended up training with the kids. the only option is getting rid is either paying a player up with everything unless they can come to an aggreement with them.

Singh could fire and rehire the players and staff.
Not Illegal, but Requires Fair Procedure:
The practice of "fire and rehire" (where an employer dismisses an employee and then re-employs them on potentially different terms) is not currently unlawful in England, Scotland, and Wales.
Last Resort:
However, it should only be used as a last resort, after an employer has made all reasonable attempts to reach agreement with the employee through consultation and exploring alternative options

one plus side of having part timers is that there contracts pay ends after the final game of the season and payment starts once pre season does. for a yearly only contract it will end after the season and only starts the day the player re signs or new ones signs during the pre season traning at the earliest.

Player contracts are no different from a normal employee contract not unless provisions have been included in it.

Players contracts are mental, Thats why an agent sees to them, So so complicated.

I watched Voyage of the Damned after the match to cheer me up…saying ‘Ah well’ after the final whistle is giving me repetitive strain injury.

Despite being almost 60, I saw that for the first time a few months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Quite how I've avoided it for almost my entire life is beyond me as I have no problem with old and/or black & white films, but there you go.

You're one of the lucky ones Accy!

For a 'new' ground Glanford Park is a soulless shithole. That said, the way things are going, you might not have to wait too long for your next opportunity. :angry-tappingfoot:

been to the old show ground, great stadium and blandford park a fading dump that takes an age to get out of the car park but never against pools. not for the want of trying but something last minute always turns up to stop me. as a town i do not mind scunthorpe as it suits me being cheap and chearful.
