Worthy of a mention too are;

Pretty much anything by Stock, Aitkin and Waterman most song were dire but particularly that awful Sam Fox thing. but tope of my list are that cringworthy 'oops upside your head' and all issues by Black Lace. They should be skinned at dawn.

I got off with the Manager of 'Blue Mercedes' one night (I should mention the manager was a woman!)

'I want to be your property' and all that. One night they were doing a PA at a club in Nottingham.

From Wikipedia:

For the album by Miles Davis, see Big Fun (album). For information on the unrelated fictional band 'Big Fun' in the film Heathers, see Heathers.
Big Fun were a English boyband (1989-94), founded by Phil Creswick (Philip Creswick), Mark Gillespie and Jason John (Jason Herbert), and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman.

All of their hit singles, "Blame It On The Boogie", "Can't Shake The Feeling", "Handful Of Promises" are included on their only album, A Pocketful Of Dreams, released in 1990.

OK, I've checked. I can guarantee you that is the ONLY Big Fun research I will ever do. They are from Charlwood, Elgin and Coventry. Thank FOOK for that!

I know for a fact that someone from Hartlepool was in a cheesy late 80's 'boy band' i cant remeber who it is though, whoever it is went to English Martyrs and is roundabout the same age as Phil Middlemass.

Our lass thinks its someone from Brother Beyond,as if that makes it any better

That fooking song GRATES on me, from the cheesy Synth-Horn intro that sounds like a fookin Jingle for Ulster TV from 1966, to the strained over-stretched vocals and the TERRIBLE lyrics.. "We're heading for Venus" rhyming with "Maybe they've seen us"??

The worst thing about it is it's STILL a staple on Oldies Radio...it was SHYTE at the time and it's SHYTE now.

And don't get me started on "We Built This City On Pie and Peas" or whatever it was called.....

I thought I was the only one that hated the Final Countdown. Agree with everything that ElvisC says.

Meself, I couldn't get away with Tears For Fears, especially that album that spawned the utterly repugnant, self centred and up their own arses "Sowing the seeds of love", although that might have been about 1990 ish.

The Final Countdown is one of my most hated songs as well. My friends love it, but it's pure trash. To think the European Union got a number one with it, too. I blame the French.

Blondie....great.

I was listening to their greatest hits the other day, and "Picture this" a song which I had almost forgotten about, struck me as being, well, a classic. I just love the way the song builds up into a crescendo.

Other 80's bands that I couldn't get away with, Kajagoogoo obviously, and Duran Duran.

Freakish. I heard Picture This at a Family bbq about 3 hours ago!

I would give you my finest hour

I love that whole song but particularly near the end when she goes through the chorus, building up to a shout, and then "whoa-oh-oh", at this point I develop a slight "stiffie"

Top band Blondie, by the way. I still give them a regualr listen.

And didn't I see recently that Duran Duran's tragic Thank You album was voted worst British album EVER! It has pissing hilarious po-faced covers of Public Enemy, Lou Reed and even (sorry Phil) Costello. I hope you haven't had the misfortune to hear it mate [smilie=pdt_aliboronz_33.gif]

I have no desire to listen to any Duran Duran song. I just can't stand them. Never could, even in their heyday when everybody thought they were great. I couldn't understand the hype meself.

Blondie were and still are a top turn. Even though the 'real punks' looked down on them both in New York and here they have outlived (literally in some cases) them all.

Blondies recent single 'Maria' stacks up with the best of their back catalogue and I think it was a hit because it had that blondie sound which was original. That reminds me, I must get the album.

One last thing; how many adolescent boys were wetting themselves over her 'sunday girl' look!

I have to admit that my first memory of having a bonk on was watching Debbie Harry on the telly as a young boy. I think it was probably the Heart of Glass or the Rapture video. I saw a thing on Mtv about them a couple of years ago witgh all their vids and some live stuff and she was one hell of a sex kitten. Grrrrrrr! She looks a bit rough now like.

Fine Young Cannibals.

And that fooking little gayboy midget Mr Potato Head with the shrill voice, either as a solo artist or with Bronski Beat.

And Oh God the memories come flooding back, Wham!, and the frickin Pet Shop Boys. Erasure! T'Pau!

My ex once batted Joey Tempest in Rock City in Nottingham.

I reckon she didn't bat him hard enough.

My nomination would be Toyah Wilcox. I had to pretend to like her to get into this lass out of accounts knickers. I even had to go and see Toyah at Sheffield City Hall AND pay for the tickets AND buy her a t-shirt. It worked like......
