So at the moment we tend to overplay when we get the ball in the oppositions box. From my observations there is a clear lack of confidence from most of the team. This what I would do . Firstly I would want at least six players in their box
from set plays, corners etc. From corners I would expect us to have men surrounding there keeper and our lads being pretty aggressive in asserting our authority. Our wing backs need to play high and crosses need to be fizzed in low
and fast in front of the goalkeeper. Too many times we play high crosses which just go in to the goalkeepers hands. The manager should be coaching the players to keep the ball down with 5 in the box and one running into the box. By keeping the ball down the goalkeeper will be under sustained pressure to palm the ball away. We therefore have 2 players running into anticipate. We have a shoot on site policy anywhere near the box . With numbers running in the box the law of averages suggests spillages and mistakes from defenders and therefore more chances. Goals will then come and confidence will improve. Of course there is the risk of the counter but we should have enough in our defence. Could also have a holding defender in midfielder to stop the flow. Your thoughts lads…..

I have a cunning plan Kettering that will improve our defence exponentially and beyond our wildest dreams and set us on the way to success…….24mmm OSB panels from my local timber merchant and board the goals up….it’s the future!!!
We could have a portable set for away games and sign two joiners to erect them and to swop ends at half time ….and the icing on the cake is we don’t need a keeper and then play 11 forwards.
Wadya think……?
However, I can see us becoming the 0-0 draw merchants of the division knowing our luck.. sadx

More shots on target.
Preferably just inside the posts away from the keeper.
Ye that!!

Stop playing that stupid player in the hole mullarkey, don't like it full stop, but certainly doesn't work for us, waste of a central midfield player, play 2 up top, a little and large combo, one good in the air, the other good on the deck, preferably in a 442 formation, keep it simple, keep it real.

It worked in brilliant in 90/91.
Simple method to follow as well.

2 decent wingers who can actually cross a ball is the way to make it work.

Is this season our lowest scoring of headers ever.

Won't be far off like!

Too many seasons to choose from, can't remember many like.

Pools never scored many headers to my memory, apart from Billy Ayre in 77/78, Graeme Lee got a few, and probably John McPhail and Keith Houchen back in the day.

people will say that nobody plays like that anymore as its out dated. thats until a top team tries it and is succesful then the rest will follow quickly. in other work its called getting back to basics but football is different now and the lap tops rule the world with there sodding wing backs, number 10 and false no.9.s. a load of bollocks thats lead to unforgettable games at every level.
