Realpolitik Snowy eh? Peace through strength? This is what you advocate.

All conflicts end.
Applying schoolboy military theories is not the answer…it’s the military theory of the playground.
Getting excited at the prospect of European intervention has one problem…the reluctance of liberal European wet governments..a loose collection of the so called willing…you don’t go from wet to chest beating hard men overnight.
C’mon …face facts, you don’t put 35 years of defence cuts right overnight then be so naive as to admit you ain’t gonna spend any extra money for three years.
It’s tub thumping as they gee each other up,,,then return home to reality….it’s window dressing.
And Starmer leading the column on this Crusade is the final straw.

Eh? That's what MAD is based on! Peace through strength. You might have learnt a definition using other wording.

Snowy, I get excited by news of no cuts let alone budget increases. Such has been the last god knows how many years.

The alternative is do nowt, which is the MOST ridiculous idea. If you seem all ideas ridiculous then go for the least so. Here we are like it or not.

Even Zelensky has recognised the end is nigh, hence his preparedness to attend peace negotiations next week with the US. Quite a change from last week's stance.
The Coalition of the Willing unfortunately is just words, to replace the support of the US would require a Coalition of the Willing and Able!
But the Imp cries foul, it's not fair!!
We know it's not fair and it's not right, but hopefully a peace can be agreed and everyone learns and prepares properly for the future.

Zelensky has been bullied. Of course he's changed.

The Coalition of the Willing is 800 billion worth of defence spending. Some of which you will pay for. Many thanks.

I am hoping for peace too. Some big Russian hurdles to negotiate.

The alternative is pause.
Regarding defence spending…it’s appalling, it has been since 1989 when the idiot politicians thought they’d cracked it when the Russians collapsed…….laziness. and greed brought us here and I even doubt these increases in defence spending will be kept.

have we got enough defence to defend the country from an invader but not as an offensive force. prefer more money to be spent on increasing police numbers to fight all proper crimes in this country with more prisons to bang the evil bastards up.

All you need to be a copper is the ability to handle yourself and possess common sense by the skip load.

if we had better ones at the top that might be allowed to happen and not a bunch who should be social workers. hit the youngsters hard and make em fear the police and not think of them as a friend. never hurt me feeling scared of them as a kid and later had a grudging respect for them that has now become a laughing stock in my eyes with their hi vis and half of ebay stuck to their uniforms.

The mere presence of thousands of US workers extracting minerals will block Putin’s ambitions in their tracks..they’ll be the trip wire.
Stalemate is also Realpolitik.
Be honest, Putin is a hard case and was never realistically gonna be deterred by General Jumbo Starmer and a reluctant crew of European closet social workers looking shifty and hoping it all goes away.
As Churchill said…’Jaw Jaw is better than War, War’…every time.

Unless Russia conducts false flag operations and/or election rigging to get their puppet in office. But that never happens does it?

   What, like Nord Stream and the US elections   both of which were found to be groundless. Keep trying with your anti Putin, Russiaphobia, I'm sure at least one person will fall for it.

go back to WW2 and read about ukrainian collaberation with the germans that included being part of the jewish holocaust. know russia did not come out clean on that topic but its never been a case of everything russian being bad and their neighbours good like has been pushed on all of us in our lifetime. most are dead now when we needed them.

This situation is very nuanced with neither side totally innocent but when the chips are down only one side has committed atrocities and murdered thousands of civi!ians. Trump is a bully but he's outbullied by the dictator Putin. He's trying to learn from the best and that's going to be shit for us all.

Does Trump realise the majority of the minerals are in the Russian occupied areas, yes Putin 200% will let the Yanks march in and start mining.

I doubt he'll be as sharp as you Jamie!
Maybe that's why he talked to Russia before Ukraine?
