Surprising for an idealist. Lots of people with German origins in the US.

The USA was conducting war manoeuvres for an invasion of Canada ….as we were still regarded as potential enemies in 1936……the ironic thing is, while we paid everything back for weapons in WW2…the Russians never gave them a penny back.
We really do kid ourselves with this special relationship bollocks…somretimes it’s more of an abusive relationship looking at Starmer’s grovelling meeting with Trump.

All military aid from the USA has been suspended.
Not before time too.

know its different in some ways but how would we have felt if when we went to war with argentina and the whole of europe and the usa helped them. whatever you think of putin its obvious he feels threatened like russia has always felt threatened from the west. most people only look at this conflict from the ukrainian point of view and never the other way around.

Just give away some garden tools on freeserve. A young Ukrainian lady came to collect them this morning. We got chatting about Ukraine and Zelensky and she said he is the most disliked President ever. According to her he should have signed a peace deal but is being selfish because he wants to hang onto power. She said if peace arrives he has to call an election because he cancelled the last one and has run past that date by 1 year. She said virtually no one likes or trusts the bloke and he would get hammered in the election. Her cousin who is only 17 was forced into a miliary bus and taken for a weeks training before getting deployed on the front line. She said she is petrified of the war continuing and worried Ukraine could be gone forever. I asked her if she would return after it's finished and she said return to what. banghead

1 persons opinion, Churchill never called an election during WW2, an election is impossible as more than a few thousand Ukrainians are in temporary exile.

There was a War Cabinet of five people the top two were Churchill and his Deputy Clement Atlee( Labour Leader who stood in for Churchill during his bouts of illness)..The other Labour member was Ernie Bevin who Churchill valued highly for his ability.
No need for an election as the two top politicians were in agreement….the Liberals were an irrelevance.

Change Ukrainian to Russian and Zelensky to Putin and I reckon that's bang on.
There's over 30 Ukrainians working on the site I'm on...all sound blokes...and everyone who I've spoken to have nothing but praise for Zelensky.

I am only passing on the young ladies comments which I though interesting. We all know one opinion counts for nothing but there you have it. Incidentally I have just had a look to see if I can find out if this man is really liked by the people like the ones you work with. I found a few but so far it does appear the majority have a different opinion about the bloke. I will look later when I have more time to see what the general feelings are and report back.

There’s other things you can do that don’t involve actually fighting, all army’s need support and other departments of government to fight a war…it takes more than just soldiers to win a war….it takes back up.

Funny that, the Yanks recently were complaining that Ukraine had set its minimum age too high and were not doing enough to match Russias numbers. The Ukrainians wanted to protect the young adult generation. Probably why Russia takes ground, they couldn't give a flying one about their people.

That doesn’t explain why Ukrainian blokes are working over here when needed to help out at home.?

No Snowy. It's all still on. Sorry. I would have doubled it personally. It's going in the right direction though with a cheeky couple of billion for Ukraine. Splendid.

It should never have got that low in the first place and the Tory’s were the worst of a bad bunch on defence spending as I found out.
Funny how everyone has started raising their defence budgets when crude facts, but true facts, smacked them in the face.

60’s is nothing. Horden is right, you can help your country by being part of the support structure the armed forces need,
Army’s without supplies lose wars, bravery only goes so far.
Try facing facts.
