I dont believe a word the Mail says and dont give a shit about Lambeth.

They should have a dropped kerb if they want access to their driveway.
The application fee is too much though.

On the other hand, converting most of the front garden into a driveway is not high on my most liked list!
And once one starts, the others soon follow. Makes the whole street look like a car park!

Much prefer a well tended garden, nice lawn, flowers etc.
People don't seem to bother much these days!

I worked in Romford in Essex in the 70s, every front garden was converted to park cars as all the surrounding roads had double yellows. Move forward to Hartlepool, how many houses in and around the town centre require parking permits, I wouldn’t blame anyone for converting their front garden to a drive rather than pay the council for a permit.

thats the thing its about converting gardens as those built with a driveway have a dropped kerb already. you cannot expect councils doing work for nothing but it would be interesting how much a private company would charge an individual for this work.
