Look at the team sheets 50 years apart:

Man Utd Team 1975

Alex Stepney - England
Arthur Albiston - Scotland
Martin Buchan - Scotland
Brian Greenhoff - England
Kevin Moran - Ireland
Steve Coppell - England
Gordon Hill - England
Lou Macari - Scotland
David McCreery - Northern Ireland
Alan Foggon - England
Stuart Walter Mitty Shithead - England

Manager - Tommy Docherty - Scotland

All British players bar one and Irish at that.

---------------------------

Man Utd Team 2025

Onana - Cameroon
de Ligt - Netherlands
Maguire - England
Yoro - France
Mazraoui - Morocco
Ugarte - Uruguay
Bruno Fernandes - Portugal
Diogo Dalat - Portugal
Zirkee - Netherlands
Eriksen - Denmark
Hojlund - Denmark

Manager - Amorim - Portugal

1 British player!

I know which team I would rather watch and support if I were a Man Utd fan.
Oh for those glory glory days!

Sure there was a picture of the Pools team/ squad when Colin Cooper was manager - they were stood in a V shape, think every player was English, must have been about 2016

What I find odd is the constant changing of team players…once you had a settled team you tended to tweak it so you could easily name a team week after week, but now it’s up in the air every week….and surely a settled team is going to perform better than a team constantly in flux.
Where they come from is neither here nor there to me, I just want a winning team.

Before the Premier League either Liverpool or Man U lined with only 1 English player, the rest were from the home countries.

again its all about the money. if this country paid the lowest wages across all leagues in europe or africa you would get all english or british teams. its not the players actually coming that bothers me its their attitudes to the game that has spread everywhere that we see on a weekly basis. the old british getting stuck in and giving opponents a kick has been replaced by shithouse faigning injury, diving, time wasting thats called game management as if its something to be proud of and the rest of the crap thrust upon us. its not just the players its the foreign managers who have brought this with them thats copied right down the levels of the game. just another load of reasons not to attend games above a certain standard and soon many will start to smell the coffee.
