Named after a place that wasn’t in it….the Cleveland Hills came under North Yorkshire County Council… and meant bugger all to people in Hartlepool…mind you Middlesbrough did very well out of it..

Anything involving ceremony, perhaps the Queen coming to town, will see the appearance of the Lord Lieutenant of County Durham as that remains Hartlepool’s ceremonial county.

It’s been that since 1996 when Cleveland finished.
Ceremonially we are aligned to County Durham but Hartlepool is independent for local government purposes…but the Labour Part appear interested in creating bigger local authorities and we’ll all end up in Great Middlesbrough …..as proposed by one clown.

Fingers crossed Hartlepool remains with its own council and its own council alone.
