In basketball they have a glass / plastic background behind the loop. sctatchinghead I see hundreds getting smashed and falling dangerously onto players heads. Surely someone should found a better material to use that's not going to smash or endanger people. sctatchinghead

guess nothing is unbreakable but there must be plastics very close to that. good job there is no breakable stuff on a football pitch as we,d be seeing more imaginary injuries occuring.

Never understood that, I suppose it’s for spectators to see the action…in sports halls the back plate is usually wood or substitute….so seeing doesn’t matter.

I often wonder why we can't turn left at a red traffic light if it's safe to do so. It works extremely well in USA sctatchinghead And please don't say it's because it's against the law. bbolt

Yer right, can’t see a problem other than having a heavier flow of traffic causing build ups for vehicles turning right from the opposite direction.
Could it be to do with Road capacity and Road sizes being smaller in the UK.
That’s all I can think of. sctatchinghead

Their roads are wider in most places but most vehicles are wider and longer aswell. I have no doubt it would work here and save a lot of time and money sat at a red light. The difficulty would be getting people used to this new way. Imagine the stress this would end for mothers taking kids to school and people running late for work or Pools.

but its common sense to allow traffic to carry on and turn left if those from the opposite direction cannot do a right turn at the junction. another one that drives me mad is the pedestrian lights coming on even if nobody presses the button.

How come the lights come on then Accy with nobody waiting to cross. sctatchinghead Surely someone has already crossed after pressing the button or pressed the button and walked away. sctatchinghead
