Anyone know why the ref stopped the game and needed to consult the 4th official? Saw some Poolies giving Sinclair some verbals - don't know what - and he then starts pointing at spectators, calling for stewards and the ref - the linesman proved that he was deaf and blind.

It was King, wasn’t it? White lad so not racism which is what it normally is when players react like that. I don’t know what someone could say to make a player react like that unless he knew something personal about him which is unlikely. He is a scouser though and they are known for being easily offended.

Not excusing it but you hear that kind of stuff aimed at opposition players every match. Most players laugh it off but for some reason yesterday it triggered a response.
That being the case it was strange to me that the ref when he stopped the game didn't take the players away from that corner of the ground to diffuse the situation while it was sorted.
Dare say if it goes to court the old fella will get a heavier sentence than that Labour MP whi attacked someone on the street.

funny how players have selective hearing when there are shouts going on all the game. its just one insult out of hundreds heard at games from fans but certain ones seem to be a no go now.

like a player who celebrates scoring in front of opposition fans. its incitement and should be a sending off offence.

That’s one that really does deserve a yellow card.

Yes he was the one giving what would probably be classed as obscene gestures to the fans.

Have to say that the ref was shocking throughout mind. Not an excuse, just an observation. He stopped the game immediately every time one of their players went down, including one instance when he was off the pitch, but not when they went on to score. Ours got booked and rightly so, theirs got away with similar fouls.
Something has to be done about keepers holding onto the ball for ages, and also if the ref stops the game for an injury the player should be made to go off for 30 secs regardless of if they get treatment.

from next season they are going to get strict on keepers holding the ball for 8 seconds and teams will get a corner if they do it. for teams like pools that will be of little help and will take up even more time or more time added. why complicate things even further as it was an indirect free kick inside the penalty area anyway. if in the opinion of the referee and a player fains injury then that should be a caution also especially if its a pretend head injury when the game must be stopped. would not take long to kick shithousery out of the game that winds fans up more than anything else apart from the pinching of yards at every throw in. just blow that up and give the throw to the opposition. they,ll only do it once.

It all seemed a bit strange to me. I heard about the queer comment from other fans.

If it was an old bloke and he used the word queer, I would guess he meant that he thought the player was a bit odd.
"You're a queer one, aren't you" - Often used if someone does not agree with what the person was thinking or doing.

"Nowt as queer as folks", a popular expression.

Maybe the player is 'Howards Way' and he felt the old fella outed him sctatchinghead

I wasn't there when it happened so hard to judge however, things like that only tend to get said out of provocation, so would doubt the said player completely innocent of winding the situation up.

Report in the Fail.

Several football supporters were arrested following this weekend’s match between Hartlepool United and York City.
Cleveland Police say nine arrests in total were made yesterday, eight being away fans from York, and one home fan.

Two were arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly, one on suspicion of possession of a pyro/flare, one on suspicion of trying to enter the ground while intoxicated, and one on suspicion using homophobic language.

Explain my ‘naivety’…. sctatchinghead you are the one who’s pussyfooting around like a spinster at an orgy…..in your day they thought ‘Homophobic’ was someone allergic to OMO washing powder.

Not condoning the ( alleged ) wording, but this sort of behaviour has gone on for years & if the game was stopped for 5 minutes every time someone got a bit upset, the games would be 3 hours long !
The fella should have just ignored the comments; would have soon shut the bloke up. Instead he just made things a whole lot worse.

exactly. its a throw away comment everyone has heard. not something personal to that player like if he had suffered a berievment or a recent problem in his life. what next having grounds shut for that stupid shout when a keeper kicks the ball who is upset because he has a weight problem.

Just been reading comments on York Press website & someone is suggesting that the York player was spat at. If so, that is absolutely disgusting. Don't know where the poster got his information from, but would certainly explain the reaction from the York player.

Even more strange that the ref didn't therefore take the players away from the area while the game was stopped. I agree spitting is not acceptable.

Agree Johnny - disgusting - but it must have been a belting spit to get from below pitch level to the touchline.
