I’m in Iceland at the moment, Reykjavík to be precise.

If there’s a friendlier, happier more welcoming city on Earth then I haven’t been there or heard of it. However if there’s a more expensive city then likewise, I haven’t been there.

£15 a pint
£35 for hamburger and chips
£6 for a croissant
and on it goes…

On balance, the cost is worth it for the experience of the place.

I was there in 2015, very impressive and yes the people look on friendship as the norm. I went in August and it was a balmy 9 degrees C.

I am in Portugal at the moment and the people here also are very friendly too and have a different mode of operation to the Spanish. Just having a cup of tea for €1 and a taxi ride back up a long bank was just €3.4last night when I was pissed.

Fabulous place to visit. We found that a lot of bars had Happy Hours (lasting several) when most draughts were half price.

Mr I, you want to visit the following place:

Skógarhlíð 20, Austurbær, Reykjavik

Should get a friendly welcome!

The Portuguese don’t like the Spanish, never have done, different natured people altogether. I was in Portugal a few years back, Albufeira, I stayed in a hotel in the old town, the street was named after Cliff Richard. I did the train journey to Lisbon, it was nice in some places but in the town centre square all the immigrates used to congregate on an afternoon, quite threatening to be honest, Portugal had their immigration problems long before the U.K.

I've said this before, when we visit other countries, we want to see their culture!
So how come all the West European major cities look like 3rd world countries!
It needs to go back how it was!

have they gone down the pan or a case of more people doing that and getting off the tourist routes that never show the city or the country in its proper light.

That’s what we’ll be paying here next year………without the friendlier, happy welcome to compensate.nnb

Thank you but no. Even the cheery Islandic people don’t trust musrats as far as they can chuck them towards greenland.

I'm in Shotton Colliery, where a bottle of turps disguised as whisky is £16.99 for 70cl.
