If Brackstone helped keep Championship side Hull out for 120 minutes he can't be all that bad.
I wonder what channel their 33 shots came from.

In fairness to Bracka, he got skinned a couple of times by a very mobile right winger and on occasion got caught out of position but his tackling was good and he supported Matty well in attack. Like on Saturday, a lot of the attack came up the left but we tried to over complicate it again which is reputed to be a confidence thing. I was much more encouraged last night than I was on Saturday when the shirt would have gone on the fire back if I'd got one. rage

After Saturdays performance you wouldn't have thought it was the same club on the pitch. We defended well, Dimi looked well in command, we got found out a bit on the left but look at their opposition week to week. Back four reasonably solid, nelson and Clark again commanding, Dazza not in the game much in fairness but they didn't probe the right much. Midfield much better, we used Ali Gibb a bit more and he can be a bloody nuisance but he has a terrible habit of hiding, needs a kick up the arse. Matty his usual tearawy head down blinkered self but scared thema few times. Liddle played holding and consequently wasn't too visible but broke up play well and usually made a good pass under pressure, albeit sometimes bacwards. Sweeney huffed and puffed and chased the lost causes. Daly lost a lot in the air, Joel got sandwiched again and agin, they knew that he's our goal threat.

Fans were excellent, noisy all night and noticeably sang 'Danny Wilsons Blue and White Army' and 'Wilson Wilson give us a wave' (to which he responded) for the first time that I've heard it anyway, along with my favourite 'shit ground no fans.'

I think Dibble already said this but it would be nice to see a settled side for a few games and let them get to know each other (the new players) and get used to any system changes.

To be fair the Braka/Robson pairing looked quite good until he got sent off for that innocuous tackle! :)

We looked fooking terrible last night down the left hand side for me last night.

I'd get Liddle back at left back and Brackstone out to Scarborough. If we're not going to be scoring goals, we need to at least make sure we#re not conceding any.

Whoa I 've worked out where we're going wrong...we've played two Championship sides and done well...we've built a team to perfom in the Championship but it's trapped in the 2nd division...typical

we still cant score goals, and this is made all the more annoying every time joachim scores, but it looks like we are just going to have to make do with what we have got.

It makes you wonder if we should have paid him what he wanted and went for it - but when you read some the reports on the loids games, he seems a bit hot and cold and turns it on when he wants to.

Liddle at left back is OK in a crisis, but being right footed he has to cut in continually to pass the ball. OK on tackling but his distribution suffers as a consequence ....

Well it would be nice to think that Joel Porter, Jon Daly, James Brown, David Foley, Michael Proctor, are thinking, hang on there's an opportunity to make folklore here......so why aren't they??

Answers on a postcard please....

if we had a decent goalscoring striker we wouldnt need to worry about the defence

If we had a PERFORMING striker you mean - or anyone else in the team for that matter scoring goals.
If you look at the teams in this division who are outscoring us (i.e. just about everybody) they don't all have Joachims or Easters playing up front. They have at best average players. Yet they're all chipping in with goals.
For a team that allegedly carves out so many chances but puts so few away, there's a great deal more wrong with Pools than just misfiring strikers. In our last promotion season for example 40 out of 71 goals did *not* come from the strikers. Where were those 40 goals last season? This season?

We should be able to outscore teams who have only average players at their disposal without signing anyone at all. But we're not. What the hell is at the root of this problem?

I'll repeat what I already said. Get Shearer or Supermac or Joe Allon or even some bloody psychiatrist in to spend a few weeks with the team sorting out the scoring problem.
We have goalkeeping coaches so why not scoring coaches?

Didn't Joe Allon have Pop Robson working with him as a striker coach before and during his goalscoring streak?
