Now if we’re going to have Wind Turbines, it would have been nice to have them made in this country by British company’s……Well Millibean, did we?
Turns out the top 5 UK big players are …

1. Siemens Gamesa….Spain.
2. Vestas Wind Systems…….Denmark.
3. GE Vernova………..USA
4. REpower Systems ………..Germany
5. Goldwind………..China.

We can’t even invest in manufacturing in our own country.

Are Reform going to create an engineering base so the U.K. can build its own turbines, I doubt it, they are against green energy.
The U.K. doesn’t have the engineering base to build the turbines, the Redcar factory is for the support structure basically piles.

How green are they? Lifetime carbon footprint must be huge considering sourcing taw materials, shipping, manufacturing, shipping after build, installation, maintenance, decommissioning, and disposal. Thing on BBC that the plastic and fibre glass can't be recycled so goes to landfill, 100s of millions of tonnes of the stuff in the process of disposal worldwide at the moment.

Our industry hit the rocks when Blair stated everyone should go to Uni and inadvertently dismissed anyone below that level.
We now have a society where a fookin coffee shop geezer who makes you an over priced coffee with a poncey pattern is more respected than an engineer.
We’re producing generations of well paid non producers turning the country into state that detests getting it’s ’hands dirty’ and making something we can fooking sell and provide for our citizens.

Said this before there wasn’t any industry left when Blair come into power, I didn’t and still don’t agree trying to educate kids more so at the end of it there are no jobs but kids for some reason are encouraged to go to uni.
We have massive skill shortages in the U.K., there is no way Labour can build the number of houses they forecast, there isnt enough tradesmen to build them. Every major building/engineering company should made to employ x amount of apprentices based on the number of employees. During my apprenticeship every tradesman had an apprentice and you were not there just to the tea, from day one you were on the tools.

Our industry hit the rocks when Maggie went all out to make us a service economy. Also that's the time when agriculture went for a up as well.

Off topic, Parliament has decided to ditch the idea of fitting heat pumps as too expensive and noisy yet trying to force them into domestic premises.

I worked on installing industrial heat pumps in the late 70’s …it was around then an experimental format…spent a full summer drilling then lowering sections of Pipe down to the centre of the fecking Earth …..or so it seemed.
The initial trial was for a cost analysis assessment … ahead of extending the idea..but proved financial cobblers….mind you the weather was nice that summer
