Watching last night my eye was caught by the lack of a crowd.
Turns out the leagues current top team had a home crowd of of 1289 fans….and 102 Poolies.
It used to be ‘ shit ground, no fans’ to ‘Tidy ground, no fans’

its because some fans expect them to roll over because there gate would be well less than half of ours on a tuesday night. if that was their average they,d still assemble a better side than we would. its 2024 and not 1954 where gates contributed to where teams played across the league.

We all know how they finance their team and how gate numbers don’t affect finances how they once did, but having a decent fan base counts for something …..in my opinion old fashioned as it may appear, I think an atmosphere is a good thing….. quite frankly last night from a home support point of view was shocking for a team top of the league with a six point lead in the league.

there is nothing better than the vic when the team is doing well. however good the atmosphere is it can turn into a cauldron of hate or silence on a bad day.

Barnet's ground is not actually in Barnet. They moved to The Hive from their old ground, Underhill, when Wealdstone (I think) could not afford to move into the ground they had built. Thus Barnet's residents have to make a journey to the Hive. Having said that, I guess they are not that passionate if they cant be arsed to make a short journey to watch their successful team playing attractive football. Besides, as we all know, there are lots of teams vying for supporters in the London area with a lot of Barnet football fans supporting Arsenal. Imagine what gates Pools would have if they had a team like Barnet.

You’ve got the wrong end of the stick..
No one’s saying you deserve a place on the strength of your support, it’s a reflection of local supporters who despite having a decent team doing well, a good manager and owner, they turn out in such small numbers even when on the crest of a wave.

Winning teams usually draw crowds but in this case as said above there’s plenty of competition for fans within the M25….it may be easier to recruit decent players but not so easy to attract the crowds given the options available.

six out of that top eight are clubs who have spent most of their life as football league clubs with most of their fans remembering happier times and still have dreams of getting back where they think they belong.

Does anyone know or can work out what is the % of average crowd versus the maximum the ground can hold? That might be an interesting figure.

Some fans say crowds have nothing to do with it.

Well a while back Billy mentioned it would become a major excuse if our crowds dropped down to the average or below in this 5th tinpot division.

Radgy certainly wudent hang about Starting to lose money if that was the case.

There's a few on here who reckon our brilliant support n Sponsors don't play a major part in keeping Radgy Happy to stay and devalue our club while living in a dream world that it's still sellable after the events of 12 months ago.

We in a Whirlpool of going only downwards.

It's now unsellable for sure which means it's eventually a reborn situation.

Hope means nothing now.
That word has run its course.

We all hope one day the most beautiful woman in the world will suck our Bunker dicks.
But in reality that will probably only happen to none of us unless you live in fantasy world or catch Her On a off day.

It’s like going to a theatre and people say oh the crowd/ audience don’t matter..it does matter for the atmosphere alone.
Any millionaire can build a super team nowadays, but spending all that money for crowds of just over. 1,000 max is a joke

My point entirely Kev.
It’s like going to a theatre and people say oh the crowd/ audience don’t matter..it does matter for the atmosphere alone.
Any millionaire can build a super team nowadays, but spending all that money for crowds of just over. 1,000 max is a joke

tell that to those owners though. they know at the outset the crowds of these clubs will never go through the roof. no matter how big their ground is there will always be a maximum number that will go to watch that club. that includes pools as well.
