Surely more economical to play in the summer months, better weather would attract more spectators, only postponements would be water logged pitches. The clubs would save money on electricity not having to use floodlights and the general lighting plus heating the buildings, dressing rooms etc.
It might clash with the World Cup but as it’s being played in hot climates of recent it would be better to be moved to the winter months.

been saying the same thing for years but with little support. the best you get from people is that it will clash with cricket and its always been this way with only little disruption due to the weather. just wonder how many more kids would attend in summer especially lasses and their mothers. possibly if TV companies wanted a change it would happen.

Are there many footy fans who watch cricket, the attendances are nothing like you get at footy matches, Park Drive isn’t overcrowded during the cricket season is it ?

It's a great idea, the games could be played on evenings ,when it's cooler, and the wives have finished dragging us round the shops

thats my argument and cricket only gets big crowds at test and one day levels. the counter atgument i use is some also like to watch and play other winter sports but they cannot do both like me when i played field hockey for years on end.

Do the women play football in the winter months? It’s just that I haven’t been misled into clicking onto fixtures and articles on the BBC site lately, expecting to see men’s football only to see the women’s stuff pop up.

I made a comment about why women’s fixtures was taking precedence over some men’s fixtures, the comment was removed as it was deemed inappropriate the BBC said.

I find it amazing that Yeovil are playing their 27th league game of the season tonight yet Rochdale haven't a fixture sat on 22 games, what is that all about?, do the F.A not insist on teams not falling too far behind, yet next Tuesday Dale do have a game but in the National League Cup

England men's cricket team played matches until 29th September last year and clashed with over a month of football with no issues. The only thing I'd miss are those first midweek games of the season where the floodlights are on and it's a nice warm evening, the rest of the season would be so much better played in summer conditions.

Mind you the current season is almost 10 months long anyway with play-offs etc so you'd still start and finish the season in winter.

would help if they got rid of all those KO competitions apart from the fa cup that fans have no interest in nowadays to shorten the season a bit. RL did this without much adverse comments from fans.

this happens most seasons with them and halifax. its the geography and the weather thats there problems making em the usual suspects for a game being called off. obviously they have done work on their pitches over the years but without changing things. going down the all weather route would be the best for em both but its sods law they,d get promoted back into the league if they did that only to have to rip em out.

I happen to think that having games in hand on the teams around you carries an advantage, some would say that cramming them in at the end of the season is a drawback but I think it gives you the chance to set a points target if your involved in a promotion or relegation push, and teams sometimes get a head of steam up and get on a productive run, when I see a team playing regularly against a team that have had a two week lay off I always would back the former.

if a team beats the one playing regular the excuse for the defeat is that they were fresh. if they lose the other team would say they were stale due to the lay off. straight from the book of excuses at the end of saturdays game at wealdstone from both managers .
