I think E.Williams lost the knack of scoring when he was forever getting played out wide!!!! :-X :-X

I can understand that when Boyd and Porter were flying but last season he should have been used up front!!!!

:-X

Here's my take on it.

When a new manager arrives he has to be fair to all and give everyone a clean slate. He will also have been aware that these players have scored a lot of goals in the past so he might have thought that it was a tactical, confidence or training problem.

He inherited a multitude of forwards some established and some coming through. I'm guessing that he will have had an assessment given to him which will include things like Proctor is an ex premiership striker. Effion was a regular scorer in the past. Porter can know a few in. Brown is potentially a great goalscorer and then he had Foley, Daly et al to choose from. He might even have arrived believing that we had the players here to do well in this division - after all, we all did.

We know that he tried to sign Jochim before the loids give him silly money and he will be scouting around trying to find a scorer. Whatever you think about Wilson, he obviously knows how the game is played and if its clear to us that we need a prolific goal scorer he might have noticed it too.

Trouble is that we along with everyone else is looking for a reliable goalscorer. There ain't that many about.

I've heard a lot more than £1300 a week. Either way, the talks did break down when they got to wages. The fact that we were even talking to him does prove that DW identified the problem early on.

As for the contracts given out: thats absolutely nothing to do with Wilson as you said so its an irrelevance to mention it. He can do nought about it unless someone asks to borrow them and even that is a very short term fix.

I think you're all being very hard on Bolland, he has had one bad game and after the first couple of appearances you were all singing his praises. He's fine but Gibb I haven't seen and I know nothing about.

I've got some faith in Wilson which I never had with Scott. 12 months ago I was calling for Scott's head and being poo-pooed. It even got to the stange where I refused to attend another game while he was still manager (a vow I stuck to). Wilson is very different and has inherited a situation a world apart from that which Scott took over.

No idea how true it is,but the way I heard the Joachim story is that we didnt get past his agent to actually talk to him.

Look, Julian Joachim doesn't play for us.

End of.

He never will.

End of.

Now can you just shut up and try and encourage players we DO have to score for us.

Or fuck off and support Darlo?? If you're all such Joachim supporters.  Jesus.........you make him sound like Thierry Henri, he's just a fat geezer who'll spend most of the season injured. :sweet:

how daft does that post look now kev? another 2 goals last night to keep his average at a goal a game. hes only been playing for them a couple of weeks and hes already scored more than our entire team.

telling people to shut up merely for asking why the club havent signed a striker is really constructive kev. or perhaps you think we should just shell out our 350 quid every year and accept our lot.

in the past the club have shelled out for quality strikers ( beardsley, watson, gabbiadini) who have put bums on seats, so why not now? or do you seriously think fans are gonna keep paying 18 quid to watch a team that cant score?

we havent been able to score goals consistently for 18 months, and its now approaching famine status. johns stats suggest that none of our current crop of strikers are likely to get 20 goals this season. anyone who has watched daly, proctor, williams and even porter can see this.

but hey lets all just talk about bottom sex instead eh ?

Not daft at all actually. My point is if you are such an admirer of Julian Joachim, go and watch him instead of moaning because he doesn't play for Hartlepool. Is he the only striker in league football who's scoring?? No. Is he the only striker we've failed to sign?? No. Did the window shut slightly after our embargo was lifted?? Yes. Had most people sorted out their deals beforehand ?? Yes. We've also shelled out for players who've been absolute flops in the recent past. Watson and Gabbiadini were good strikers but retired hurt. Are these the people I should compare Joachim with?? I think you'll find I already did. We know to our cost that you need more than one scorer at a club.

Incidentally, and seeing as you know all about me, I said not three days ago that you can choose to pay your money or not, but paying it gives you no more than entry to the ground. Outside of the games, no-one at the club gives a flying fart about what you think and to think anything else is arrogant nonsense. If you find it expensive at 18 quid come in the cheap bit with us who only pay £16.

I will not dignify your last remark with a response.

The transfer embargo was a nuisance as it didn't allow us to move for any players early enough in the summer when they were all available.

Although it was lifted a week or two before the deadline not only did that provide time constraints it also meant that the better players had already signed elsewhere. The only way to correct that will be to either spend money on transfer fees in January or try and make do with what we have until next summer's round of freebies.

And what if the appointment of the manager took longer than it actually did?? Six or seven players without contracts, everyone signing players left right and centre and a potential situation to lose half the squad with the club unled. Like no-one would be looking at a newly relegated club for good players, pareticularly without contractual problems and no fees involved.

It's not quite as black and white as you seem to think Chip. The other thing is we're Hartlepool, we're in a football wilderness, and also we are no longer a team at the top of the third. We're shite again and who would want to sign for us?? It's square one with all the crap that entails. Notionally Darlo did miles better than us last season and so given the comparison, who would you sign for??

And you reckon banging on about Julian Joachim signing for someone else is going to make everything right? And harping back to when Cooper was manager will shoot us up the league?? And it's Turner and Hodcrofts fault that Boyd and Porter were injured all season?? The sucessess of the season before came from largely home grown players or certainly we got 60 goals from two youth teamers and an unknown Aussie. We don't get big name players except when they won't retire.

No. A set of largely unavoidable circumstances have put us where we are and if you're saying there isn't better experienced people dealing with the situation, walk away. It's your ultimate choice.

Like I said yesterday, you can voice your opinions for 90 minutes at a time then it's thanks and goodnight. Being involved in Hartlepool United right now must be one of the most thankless tasks in football. Everybody would do it differently. It's the same as when the Scott Out movement started last season, no-one had any idea who to bring in but it was 'Scott Out' all the same.

So who DO you want as Chairman then?? Tell me that and then start the campaign.

Well I have to admit that most of the Sheff United fans I knock about with (and there's a good few) want rid of Warnock, even though he's brought them to the promised land.

My view is a bit different that's all, we're a bit beleaguered but everyone has the belief that we can turn it round. I said a couple weeks ago that what we're seeing is a rebuild and it was necessary. I just think it was started too late.
