usual defeatist shite from Lennie....our season wont be defined by results against the top 4 etc... they are better than us though we'll try
Oldham biggest club in league.....then drones on about 'back in the day' when he was in charge of Middlesbro and Oldham were in the prem league.

If he thinks we have no chance against them whats the point in making the playoffs when we will come up against them again---apparently there are a lot of away games in January as well so we shouldn't expect too much out of that month!

Certainly not an inspirational interview but a truly realistic one. We all know that we are not as good as the teams he mentions but when did he say we have no chance against against them. The bloke is just telling it as it is and not trying to pull the wool over supporters eyes.

If he thinks we can't beat them he should hand over to someone who thinks we can. It's not so much not inspirational for the fans but if the players are going on the pitch without belief we are well and truly screwed.

He is deluded and should now move back up to the board room and far away from the dugout. He is simply backing up Raj and has no intention of getting this club into the playoffs. BTW congratulations on becoming No1 Super Fan because our Kev only gives that prestigious award to the most worthy.

No. They have the same name but the team will be vastly different to the reserves and youth players zwho turned out at Stockton.

I agree. The current Pools team have shortcomings but they also have strengths. The form book says Oldham will beat us but with the right tactics and team selection we are more than capable of beating them. The issue is, the team and the tactics wont be the right ones.

Them Gateshead tactics need binning.
Has to be 2 up front.
And get tighter on the opposition without the ball and actually put a few tackles in.

A simple game made complicated by the English Managers copying this foreign shit.

true, but the whole interview would do nothing to get a fan to attend who was unsure of what to do today. surely there is a middle ground between bullshitting fans and putting there expections down.

We are the better team and should be winning. Two up top is the only hope we have in reaching the playoffs. Finally Mr.Burns has picked the two up top and it's making a big difference in this game so far. Mancini unplayable again yet still struggles to get a game. Whatever the result we need to stick with two up top and Mancini starting every game. Joe having a good game aswell but Doddsy looking a little rusty so far.

Madine off Lua Lua on. Is this a change in formation or is Madine knackered? Gray Could go up front with Manni D and Lua Lua goes on wing instead of Gray?

Hunter on for Mancini. A defensive move which will be applauded if we hang on but pelters will follow if Oldham score.

Good performance from Pools worked extremely hard. Annoying that the match was buffering throughout and I have a paid subscription with fast internet

At last, an attacking lineup that can win games with the risk of losing one or two here and there. Draws (2 points lost) will keep us bobbing around mid table but the 3 pointers are needed to get into the playoffs.

Few people on the Oldham board saying they should sign Mancini. Nice to hear stuff like that in one way but the way we handle contracts, I can see summat like that happening.

It has taken half a season for HUFC professionals to arrive at a lineup that Bunker amateurs have been crying out for. Oldham's recent record is probably the best in the league so they are by no means an average team. Pools can be proud of a good win and must now press on and get into the playoffs.

We have had an absoloute bufoon in charge for most of the season and are only 7 points behind Oldham. Oldham arent a patch on barnet, york or Gateshead, we comfortably beat them yesterday.

We showed what we can do with the correct formula.

Just got to hope the gap above us isent to big.

Need to go to Barnet n win otherwise its likely due to Solihulls upcoming games and ours v Tamworth off we Gunna have a 9 to 10 pts deficit to come into play before Wealdstone away on the 18th.

2 up top n a shit load of luck still on the menu like.

It's a funny old game.

give the lads some credit though for making them look poorer than those other teams. we played well and the lads should get the credit and not because oldham looked average on the day. remember also that they had a free boxing day and in theory should have been fresher than us.

Oldham were a very different type of challenge to Gateshead, York, Barnet. Oldham were far more direct whereas the others were more pass and move. Our CBs just dominated almost everything they threw at us and Smith had a very quiet day in reality.
Good team selection and tactics from Lennie at last and surely he won't change that winning team? Sheron was outstanding and definitely shores up an otherwise weak midfield. Not a bad performance from any of them tbh. Not sure how Madine missed 1st half after the move of the game?
Need to back it up now, 6 points was the target for me over the 3 games against top sides. Still on if we go for it imo.

I didn't suffer any buffering. Once again I thought Rob Law and Mickey Barron did an excellent job with the commentary.

Yes that expert Barron  He wanted Feathers to pass the ball to a team mate before crossing it into the box for the Waterfall goal. Luckily Feathers knows he is clueless and totally ignored the silly twat.

Most oldham fans on their forum impressed with us, though saying they played shite

Even a few ‘sign Mancini’ posts….would be nice to show some ambition and offer him an extension before seasons end….too much to hope that we have an option on his contract I suppose

Not so much they played shite imo, more we made them look pretty average overall. The more adventurous formation worked really well and we seemed to be trying to play our passing game without fear for a change.
Overall we created more and better chances, they looked dangerous for 10 mins or so after scoring a goal out of the blue, and if we'd conceded again it would probably have been a rout. But we regrouped well and pushed on. We let them dominate the last 15 mins or so too but that was because we sat too deep for my liking, yet still they didn't create a lot of chances.
We've set a standard of what the squad is capable of, can we maintain it and string a good series of wins or two in the next 6 weeks or so? Confidence should be high after that both from individual players but also a new way of playing. But this is Pools, who knows what tomorrow will bring?

The basic formula the fans seen months ago has finally arrived.
Just got to hope we haven't found it to late.

Got to go to Barnet n every other away game without this stupid respect n fear attitude.

Not impossible to average out 2pts a game from here on in.

But with Pools anything could happen bad or good.

madine might have missed a good chance but at least he was in a position to miss it. how many times have we moaned that there was nobody close to putting a cross away. if that chance did come again he might put it away unlike he would if he was not there at all.

Well said Accy, goal scorers are judged by the number they put away, not the misses. Madine's record cannot be faulted considering he has been given such little playing time.
ManiD appears to be immune from criticism on the bunker but his record this season, minus penalties, is not great. I would have preferred to see him put that header away rather than a defender.
Hopefully if we continue with two up front, both will benefit and find the net more often.

Edited to explain I was referring to this season.
