According to an article in the Mail Council chiefs have admitted staff morale "isn't great" but stressed they are doing "everything we can" to improve matters while also highlighting the impact of negative social media posts.
The quote was from Denise McGuckin whose salary is £167000 a year, how can she improve matters,in my line of work it was either shape up or ship out unfortunately it’s very difficult to move people on where they know it’s very difficult to move them on.

If I was on 167k a year, I’m sure I could cope with any criticism…and wonder what I was getting criticised for.
Was the so called staff morale the morale of the top managers….there, there.

WTF.
So our extortion council tax goes on their huge wages while the greedy bastads charge us extra to dispose of brown bin garden waste.
Then they blame lack of government funding for cut backs.

Kin ell- 167k a year in Hartlepool - that's outrageous given the levels of deprivation suffered by the many. How could that possibly be justified?

I'll do it for 100k - and donate the other 67k to the food bank. I'd jack teaching in, and move the thick end of 200 mile in a heartbeat. I'll start AFTER Xmas!

In 2019 6 employees of the council were on over £100000, those are the most up to date figures I can find.

just need to go to most towns in the country and see what the biggest and most fancy building there is there. the bloody council office/ town hall where money seemed no object when building them or a bigger replacement even if the population of that town lowers.

possibly a bit more than they did a few years ago when everyone had an assistant to an assistant working there. when i left school they seemed to be the biggest employer in my area with so many leaving getting jobs there in different departments. once it was regarded as an easy job, not that well paid but a job for life if you were willing to fill a dead mans shoes eventually by the time you were 50.

In 2024/25, the Council has an overall pay budget of £79.9m (excluding school staff) including on-costs for its workforce. It employs 2,044 people excluding those who are employed directly by schools in Hartlepool, in a variety of diverse roles.

I hear a "rumour" that the council staff may be getting relocated to the old Binns building.
Apparently the Red Palace (Kremlin) is falling apart (like North Tees Hospital).

Anyone got an inside steer on this one

I was at meeting a few years ago when Drummond was the mayor he more or less stated then the place needed refurbished. I find it hard to believe a building which was only completed in the late 70s is falling to bits.
