Eh????? How on Earth can anybody be satisfied with where we are at the moment?

You couldnt make it up we beat the odd shit team and fans are satisfied, crikey. 1/3 of the division or near enough get into the play offs or promotion spot it really shouldnt be seen as some great achievement when halifax and gateshead managed it last season. Granted it would be a lot better season but jesus do we have any standards at this club. We should be talking bout winning the bloody league each season were in it.

Let's get up first- we can worry about that later.

You could say that about any club outside the big six in the Premier league, and in particular so called yo-yo clubs-
Sheff Utd, West Brom, Leeds in the Championship
Barnsley, Rotherham, Peterborough in League 1
Crewe, Walsall, Doncaster in League 2

Ok they've all had more success but it's relative in terms of size and recent history of club.

Maybe people my age have been spoilt. But I remember us as yo-yoing between League 1/2 or in the earlier days regular losers in League 2 (Division 3) play offs. We are where we are now though mainly down to mismanagement, so to be satisfied with treading water in this division with pretty much the main cause of the mismanagement at the helm is baffling to me. I don’t get how people think things will change under Raj, he’s not changed yet, so why now?

Yer I’m struggling to see how us ‘making the play offs’ can be seen as a massive step forward for the club in the grand scheme. We had this massive step forward and play offs 4 years ago, and ended up back to square one. If we were to go up I see nothing to suggest the same wouldn’t just happen again.

we have had history of sod all for years only to eventually get promoted and still fuck it up quickly. not all of those were under our present owner.

Has anybody from the Trust verified this bill of £17k. What exactly did they get for their money.

The first post states it came out at the HUST AGM, would suggest if it came from HUST it's likely to be verified by them.
The American guy who was part of the consortium also said he lost a fair few thousand due to exchange rates and/or transfer fees for his money (I can go dig up his post if you want this verifying too?).

A bit of perspective is always useful.

Dave Challinor became manager in November 2019 - part way through our THIRD season in the National League, after the parachute payments had stopped.

Average home attendance the year before under Bates/Money/Higgy was 3,124, when Pools finished 16th. The current average after 11 home games played is 3,563. It's hard to see the average dropping below 3,100 unless our form falls right off the proverbial cliff.

In short, we've been here before. People are entitled to their own opinions, but Raj didn't fold the club in 2019 because the parachute payments had stopped and there's no rational reason why he should do it at the end of this season if we don't go up.

If he was desperate to go he would have sold up earlier this year when he had the chance. You can look at what he's actually done this season, including bring in a new Academy boss who's an expert at keeping academies going with no subsidy (at tiny NLN side Kings Lynn Town!) and conclude that, like it or not, Pools' life will go on in the NL if it has too.

The doomsayers will carry on predicting the worst, but... where's the evidence?

That's a good perspective ,however, communication from the Club is woeful. This time last year he was allegedly desperate to sell. A bit more PR would help to explain his current motivations. We are not seeing anything fridge so called fans representative.

Most people aren't predicting doom. They are saying it's shit, has been for a while and there's no evidence to suggest it will change. Probably no different from your assessment really! All apart from your conclusion regarding Raj's intentions
It is based on Raj making rational logical decisions. I'm not sure about that at all!

I've got no idea why Raj and the 'board' are such bad communicators. Lennie and Limbrick are pretty good at talking about team matters, and that'll do for me - while the season is still going on at any rate.

Of course there's evidence that things are getting better, we've got 13 points from the last 8 games, we took 9 points from the 10 games before that. The football is better to watch and we're nearer the playoffs than relegation for a start.
Raj might get lucky again as he did when he signed Challinor, who knows what's around the corner?

We are plodding along in mid table--this 'uptick' is no different to what we had under Phillips before reverting to mediocrity--will be very surprised if this team and 'management group' get particularly close to the playoffs this year--we'll plod in mid table with an excuse every other week for how its about to 'click'

With the players Pools can afford they will never be any more than a mid table team, if any one does rake over they will need to make a significant investment in players to get out the N.I.

What is Gateshead doing right.
They ain't buying a promotion challenge for sure and have still got the trophy in their cabinet.

It's still a non excuse season.
Stop making up pathetic excuses.
Shape up fella :angry-tappingfoot:

Gateshead seem to have found a formula that works in that they have the core of a team which hasn't changed much in the last 3 or 4 years. Together with an established style of play which doesn't change when a manager leaves, promoting from within generally which gives great continuity.
We just lurch from one extreme to another when we change managers and players.
We need to get lucky as we did with Challinor.

for a bang average league game with nothing on it pools like others will get both a minimum and a maximum that will attend games. Take a few hundred off with relegation but not a great deal more extra with promotion.
