Loads of topics on The Bunker about benefits, I watched this only for about 10 minutes, but a fella turned to apply for benefits, he said he was alcohol dependent and had drunk 7 cans before the interview, who diagnosed him as alcohol dependent, I would say he was an alcoholic ? If I had been interviewing him I would have said why are you applying for benefits when you can afford 7 cans of beer and what effort have you made to try and sort out your alcohol dependency. That’s typical DWP, it wasn’t the assessor position to question but I assume hopefully there would further interviews to discuss his alcoholism ?

I was told a while back that if you have a alcohol problem and are on benefits you can apply to get free drink at Witherspoons at certain times each day. He told me its paid by the government directly to the pub who then supply the drinks. I have no idea if this is true or false but he said the pub opens early (8am ? ) specially for these people. I did drive past Witherspoons around 9am a few months back and there was a group of people going in but this could have been a coincidence. sctatchinghead This may be in your attachment but I have not seen it yet.

£48 million is peanuts in comparison to tax evasion and PPE scandal.

I have heard that the hundreds of containers near Heerma on PD Ports land are full of unusable PPE.

C’mon the Tories have gone…about time you knew the truth about them there containers…if you travel past frequently you’ll notice the colours rotate ……they’re just an overflow from Teesport since the Freeport opened and have to be stored within the duty free zone of which Hartlepool docks are with Teesport and Hartlepool has the space..there , there… not much use as a distraction from Keir’s adventures.

Brash….has a lot of energy and confidence to succeed and not having much respect for others or worrying about their feelings.
That is the definition of the word ‘Brash’ according to the Cambridge Dictionary.
Surely not sctatchinghead

The lazy bastads pretend they want to work for the cameras.
In reality they over the moon with life getting paid more than people working.

And years ago the reporters/interviewers would of called them lazy bastads instead of pretending to feel sorry for them.
Due to wokeism.

Yas know I'm correct.

Trouble is nowadays…ALL Goverments are run by wet behind the ears middle class graduates who’ve never broken sweat or worried about paying the bills for basic things in their pampered lives.
So when they encounter people like this, which normal people see as fecking skivers and wasters they react like teenagers and swallow all their bullshit and believe them..
We are governed for the past thirty years by the equivalent of naive 14 year old idealists with experience of feck all and who will swallow anything… by anyone who can mildly fake sincerity.
That’s why we’re constantly in the Shiite.

if there were more jobs available than applicants i,d agree but unemployment is still high and someone will have to be unemployed. people cannot moan about the workshy and the cost of benefits one minute and then want all immigrants legal and illegal to be allowed to work increasing the length of the dole queue. somehow the system needs to change where work is worth doing to show how much better off you are by doing it. there might be some pride in working but being bored to death by doing something for less isn,t going to pay the bills.

The woman who walked with a stick and had a young son said she would need a job with a salary of £35000 to match her benefits.
Others are scared to take job in case it doesn’t work out and end up back to square one trying to claim benefits.

Maybe benefits should be reviewed annually….?

Should be every 3 months but the DWP don’t have the staff, I was on the sick a long time ago, arthritis in my elbow. Within 2 weeks I received a letter requesting me to attend an assessment, I signed off and struggled on, no one ever or rarely passes the assessment, you practically have to be on your hands and knees.

Last time I was on the dole was 2009 and after the fart about for £60 a week Job Seekers Allowance I didn’t bother claiming….only off for six weeks luckily.
Funnily enough I was told when I first went to claim I wasn’t entitled because of my bank balance…I pointed out it was mandatory to the young lady who told me basically ‘so what’…….. :evil…….I asked her if she knew the meaning of the word mandatory..walked off with my file ….returned and told me “In this case you can claim …blah blah blah…’ A simple ‘sorry’ would suffice…but

From my limited experience of dealing with the DWP personally, one or 2 of the staff might have been thrown of the gestapo, some were trying to be helpful and others passing the time of day waiting for clocking off time.
My other experience was working on DWP office refurbishments/upgrades where they were combining the Social Security offices and Job Centres into one organisation. They gave all the staff nice shiny new desks new flooring, new lighting systems etc. the staff had flexible working hours, a few of the staff ‘clocked’ on at 8, feet on the desk reading the newspapers until the Manager arrived then the newspapers were put away, no questions were ever asked what they had achieved by ‘clocking’ on early.
This exercise of refurbishment extended to all the offices in England and Wales around 2004 and cost hundreds of thousands of pounds, for what, zero, in fact the public computer terminals were removed where you could search for jobs yourself.
