tually alter their plans on the basis of these scaremongering weather alerts warning of impending Armageddon?
Or is it just an excuse for services and employees to have an unexpected holiday?

I know what you mean…. one man’s nippy day is another eco warrior’s blood curdling snow and ice Armageddon.

no chance it will be off for health and safety as it will be deemed too cold for fans and players or go all railway company and find leaves on the pitch from the nearby trees. Been there once and if nothing has changed do not try to bring a warm flask in with you. The buggers will confiscate it with a hell of a job getting it back after the game.

as someone who has lived in other areas of the country i always think the coldness of hartlepool is vastly overated. Nothing can compare to doing a junior match at sole bay, southwold i did there where the ground is as close as the one at seaton is to the sea but much higher up. No rain or snow but a strong easterly with players going off because they were cold with me wearing an old time blazer, a thick sweater, undershirt and a white shirt on top with gloves roald amundsen would have approved of.

Coldest I can recall was the services near Grantham on the A1 in the 80’s.driving down to Portsmouth via London …and everywhere was cold and dry…no ice just dry coldness…parked up and came back out later ….as I drove out of the car park a gull was sat in the middle of the road…wouldn’t move, the wife got out and confirmed it dead but wouldn’t move so I had to drive over it…it was like bribing over a building brick
I reckon the sea temperature keeps the really bad cold away, the Headland Gulf Stream does the rest….

funny mentioning sea temperatures. most people only go into the sea in summer on a warm day to cool down. still remember a day down seaton where me and a swimming loving girlfriend went in. it started to rain heavy and the sea felt warm after the rain hitting you.

Apparently - if anyone is interested - the words ‘Climate Change’ have been deemed as not being scary enough anymore by the High Priesthood of Raving Greenies and Mad Scientists. The current politically correct phase is ‘Climate Crisis’ although the words Climate Temperature Variation’ was utilised instead of ‘Global Warming’ on the Tyne Tees local news the other night. Presumably because they had just forecast overnight temperatures of -5c and daytime temperatures of 2c on an autumn day and didn’t want to look silly.

Notice how certain channels when showing the weather map, have these intensely extreme colours, just to make it a bit scary for the mugs watching.
One mainstream eco rent a gob was complaining that the farmers meeting in London should have been banned because their road blockers and vandals were banned.. bleedin fantasist.

If all fossil fuel based products are banned, how will we survive, plus they eco loons don’t approve of the steel making process..,I’d imagine we’re heading back to a pre Industrial Revolution wilderness as parsnip based plastic ain’t gonna save the world as we know it in the UK, all we have is virtue signalling to fall back on ….we’re ruled by middle aged students who listen to wet behind the ears fantasists and appear to despise the other 99% of the population.

I believe in climate change. 97-99% of scientists in agreement is pretty high.

We are being treated as stupid though, like children who need to be given a fright. I understand statistics, tells me about that, don't label every meteorological event as climate change as they've always happened.

Can't stand the middle class EV advocating green nutters either.

'My EV saves me sooo much money in fuel'

That's nice Tarquin but what about the big fat wedge it cost you to acquire?

I defo would have an EV, no problem at all but the maths doesn't work for me just yet and I haven't got money to chuck around just for the UK push for net zero which at the moment is just pissing in the wind.

Been looking at the prices of second hand cars and even seeing them on the forecourt going for silly prices…£6.5 k for bang average family car 12 years old.
People can’t afford EV’s at the bottom end of the market …looks like the plebs will be forced off the roads first.

you can see it now. to offset the cost of an EV the government would give a massive scrappage inducement to ditch your petrol pr diesel car only for an african country to come along and import em all. bit like they did with peugeot 504 and 505 estate cars years back that were used as taxi,s.

mind you the bottom has really dropped out of the market for older manual diesel cars with people in fear of ULEZ type schemes coming to their areas. i know i,m trying to sell mine but can see me making a big loss on it even with its low mileage.
