Good to see the 49yo Mark Williams is keeping his Hartlepool born wife Joanne and family in in fine style with a Champion of Champions win. The £150,000 prize money should help with the Xmas festivities in the Williams' household.

The win gives him automatic entry to next season's event. He is for me one of the most watchable snooker players and it is great to know that he will be still competing at the top aged 50.

I bet the millionaire doesn't give a penny to the homeless or the poor pensioners though. All these so called celebrities are all the same to me. You may well ask why should they give to the homeless and pensioners sctatchinghead Because it would make a huge difference in the lives of these people if they all give something back to the people just once in a while and afterall they can afford to do it. banghead I am certain all the homeless and the poor pensioners would be well looked after if these foookers give just 1% of a years earnings away.

Maybe they do and just don't go to the press and TV to tell everyone?

Yeah bit presumptuous to imply he doesn't. Do get the sentiment though, if some if them gave money instead of promoting themselves (giving their time) it would probably make a big difference at little cost to them overall.

I always admired Terry Wogan for doing Children in Need every year then I read he got £28K for doing it. Similarly the celebrities who came out for Bidon in the American election were all given a fee.

I can assure you I will never be in the position of being accused of being a tight wad, as most of my money was accounted for as the midwife delivered me.

Fair enough he could be one of the very few who do give but I would bet it's not the normal for celebrities to give anything to help the most vulnerable.

its basically what we do with our small change given to bucket collectors. the difference being we do not mention it but so many celebs make a big thing of being charitable where what they give relates to what we give in proportions.

Celebs are often doing charity work to get a gong from the monarch!
