Badly…the Catholics are shrinking and closing churches and the Church of England are away with the fairy’s….they’ve lost the plot.
Give the Muslims credit for having a real belief in their religion.

correct, but it will be a lot busier at a christmas carol concert or service. went yesterday to my local one as they had a christmas fair. the place was rammed unlike it would have been this morning with i,d guess most there would be of pension age. big question is will those getting closer to that replace the present ones once they die off. once when morning service was over it looked like throwing out time at a pub on saturday night with all the folk about.

add hindus and sikhs to that. even worse for the methodists who have more closed buildings than debenhams.

True but I don't think the ones who pass away will be replaced. I reckon in 50 years time they'll only be a handful of churches left and services will be held once a month.

Nah, there are plenty of evil atheists and there was evil before Islam or Christianity or any of them. Most religions rules just surround not being a twat of a human being.

its a case of trying to be the best person you can be but there is no need to follow any religeon to do that. the basis of them all are fine but the problem is people wjo pick the odd things out of their relegeous texts to boost there arguments on a subject. nothing to stop a single person following the 10 commandments without believing in the existance of somebody who wrote and preached them.

No you don't need to, you're right but you don't need to be atheist either. There are people who pick up the wrong things from religious texts, just like there are people who pick up all sorts of wrong things from philosophical or political writings.

Could be. I find churches services boring. I don't think I need to go to be a good person. I don't even think you need to go to believe in God and worship him.

I am on the fundamentalist wing of atheism but believe in living within the teachings of the Ten Commandments. Belief in an afterlife is moronic.

2 questions for you...
Why Dyke House?
And please please please show me the 'vile innuendos' I've posted in 18 years of been a member of the Bunker. Just one will do Oddie...just 1...that's 1...ONE!!!
On second thoughts....I'm not bothered about the Dyke House question and I'll put it to bed. You were obviously stating that I was 'thick' and assumed I went to 'Dykey'. I have a lot of friends who went to Dyke House...the majority are doing very well.
I actually went to English Martyrs and I'm doing OK aswell....not a Business owner or millionaire...but doing quite well.
So what School did you go to?? Not that I'd judge you on what school you went to like...I'm not a 'plastic snob'.
So come on Oddie...what secondary School did you attend?? sctatchinghead

still wonder whats the oddest behaviour we can do. believe in the afterlife and kneel to our so called maker or bow and scrape to a member of the royal family. one good thing now is we can all say this but i,d guess if you,d have tweeted something like that 60 to 70 years back if we,d had the internet you,d be picked up for a blasphamous non hate crime.

There can be no afterlife, because most people would imagine it was just a continuation of your present life for eternity….try imagining eternity…it’s terrifying.

We need to keep religion going. Otherwise all those kiddy fiddlers they claim not to employ would have to get normal jobs as PE teachers and lifeguards at the local swimming pool, where they would arguably have even more access to kids. We've a lot to thank the Catholic Church and Church of England for in that respect as they have provided a very safe haven for that type for many many years.

Otherwise all those kiddy fiddlers they claim not to employ would have to get normal jobs as PE teachers and lifeguards at the local swimming pool, where they would arguably have even more access to kids. We've a lot to thank the Catholic Church and Church of England for in that respect as they have provided a very safe haven for that type for many many years.

well thats the best thing i have heard for keeping it going. one thing for certain is certain jobs seem to attract certain types and once you get a couple working anywhere others of a similar ilk seem to follow. suppose its safety in numbers where they feel safer to try it on.

When I was young I imagined the afterlife to be like an eternal cathedral service and decided it wasn't for me.

I suspect the afterlife was part of the original sales package as an incentive to followers to cope with a shit life and get their reward for obeying the rules.
