I would have thought we would be more likely to get Matt Bondswell, he was Newcastle u23 left back, played 40 games on loan for Newport in L2 last year. He was released in the summer and is still without a club.

Dummett was linked with Sheff Utd a couple of months ago.

Thanks for that information Mctee. Either would be a good signing I would guess.

So Dummet on Premiership wages would sign for little ol Pools for a pittance? No chance, he'd probably rather retire.

That depends on whether he still has a hankering to pull the old boots on for as long as he can. Then there is the experience of maybe coaching the youngsters if he also has a hankering to stay in the game.
Or maybe he just might simply have a hankering to give something back and stay involved.
Keep playing as long as you are capable and can contribute. Those boots are a long time hung on that nail.

He’s not on any wages at the moment, he’s on the dole, same as Madine and Freeman were before they signed.

He'll have Premiership wage bills to pay so will want to maximise his income. If a Football League team show interest, he'll be there. Pools would be last chance saloon for him.

Stranger things have happened at Pools - 3 times European Cup Winner Ray Kennedy, and once transfer fee record holder, and multiple honours and England International Peter Beardsley both turned up here towards the end of their playing careers.

Not quite the same thing. In those pre Premiership days, the salary differential was huge but not absolutely insane as it is now. Pools were a Football League team, Beardsley was a loan deal and I guess Ray Kennedy fancied another year and had no better offers. In those far off days we had Tommy Gibb, Alan Foggon and Jimmy Shoulder all from the Mags. I just think, times have changed to make these scenarios far less likely but happy to be proved wrong.

As did Alan Kennedy, former Liverpool European Cup winner, scorer in the final win in 81, England International too.

Solano too haha - but it would be good to see someone like him come into the club. I think he would do a job and be such a good player for this level he wouldnt be too long away from a move back into say L1. Still some canny players not with clubs like
