For those thinking there is an overreaction to where we are now…

Assuming we potter along doing nothing this year, which the club has obviously accepted based on the managerial appointment and associated quotes

Next season

Mani D out of contract, nailed on to leave
Mancini, dodds and Grey all out of contract, be very surprised if they don’t all leave

Charman, hunter , Sloggett Campbell and Sheron all still in contract, so that’s the spine of our attack and midfield we are looking at.

Feather (who damingly is our best midfielder still) another year older and slower
Parkes like feather another year older and we have seen from waterfall how players that age can fall apart

New manager who has never managed before

Lower budget to replace those who leave due to parachute payments ending and reduced season tickets

Now nothing is certain, maybe the new manager is some sort of genius or maybe we sign some gems for peanuts but looking at the above, it sounds very much like a team fighting relegation next year

People need to get real this club is sleepwalking into obscurity with this current set up

I don't know if any of that will happen but that's still a chance this team can put a good run together and the season can be salvaged. For the longer term, things look quite depressing. Ah well.

You may upset a few with the truth.... We can't be having that.

You should have started it with

A long long time ago, in a league far far away the Hartlepool United Saga will continue as follows bbolt

We've got absolutely no pace and width in the squad. Grey is not a winger, Charman isn't either even though they can't be faulted for effort. Manurithin isn't up to this level yet.
Can't see us going on a run at all, and aren't Mani and Parkes both suspended now after 5 yellows each?
Going to be a long winter.

Manthurin and Mancini should both be starting in front of charman imo he’s a trier but those 2 have more quality

Only the hardened fans will continue paying money to watch this bilge.

You’re right, next season will be crap and the contractual situation looks damning.

Thought Charman was good today though.

Fair assessment.
That's why it's mainly classed as a last chance saloon season.
If the majority of our fans weren't alcos or still needing to get out the house due to lock down then Raj wudda pulled the plug.

Unless MMMP is still on the Menu.

Basically it's game over. :angry-tappingfoot:

we will still not have a bottom 4 budget next season and the club needs to make a big effort to use what it has wisely. money does help a great deal but so does finding unknown players to make a difference by having a better scouting policy.

You're welcome to your opinion but you need an eye test or maybe a brighter screen to watch your football on  Quality is a meaningless value judgement unless it's related to impact on the game. Charman scored one, made one, never stopped working and had the beating of his man.

It's disappointing that LL waited till the game was beyond us before making changes but he hooked the right players - Campbell and Grey. Both their places in the starting 11 should be at risk.

Manthurin needs sending back and Mancini at the moment is a shadow of himself, Charman causes trouble, Not the best defensively but thats NOT his job.
Gray gets carried too often for my liking.

I watched an impartial opinion on YouTube this morning of the game from a visiting neutral and he said if Pools has scored again at 2-1 down it could well have been a different game, at the end of the day at least they made a fist of it, we need to accept that some unfashionable clubs at this level can now match us financially. We haven't a god given right to excel at this level so we need to grit our teeth and battle on, need to push the boat out to sign an experienced creative midfielder, maybe someone who's fallen out of favour at their current club, and another pacy defender.

somewhere between 2.5 and 3.5 million in debt. Losing more and more every year, no parachute payments, a lot of the better players coming to the end of their contracts, nothing of any value owned and a lease for an old beat up ground. Falling attendances and a fan base becoming more and more frustrated all the time. Raj thinks someone is going to buy the club for millions. Raj putting his hand in his pocket deeper is unlikely when most of the fans hate him and want him to go.

Raj won’t be putting anymore of his own money in, which
Is his prerogative, but it’s a bit galling he’s happy to sit there as the
Club slides further and further back unless he gets his fantasy price

Yes he can do it, yes it’s his right and yes there is nowt much to do about it….but we can certainly call it out as we see it….and he should get no enjoyment out of running a club into the ground

Last promotion team.
We had Hoolahan Skelton Armstrong
Oates.
Skillfull 100% committed players.

Players capable of getting more than 2 wins in a row.

So far we way of that team in a worse standard division.

things are certainly not ideal but i,d guess there have been bigger basket cases than us who have been bought out and have inproved. a rich suger daddy would be fine but even somebody without millions to burn would be ideal if we were put on the same footage as the better financed clubs in this league.

I'm sure Crawley n Gillingham 2 years ago were in the shit.
In came the Americans.
Saved n instamatic promotions.

Wrexham did OK as well.

Maybe Raj needs to put an ad in the new York Times.
Maybe Farage can have a swift word with Donald. A favour to a future Reform town. sctatchinghead.

even though yank ownership could improve pools it certainly would not go down well with me. i,m sorry if this bothers anyone on here but i just do not like them and anything about that country. unlike many muslims i have never met a nice one or one that didn,t want their arse wiped by someone else.

The idea of every club being the plaything of some unconnected stranger bringing instant gratification might get some ‘aroused’ but I actually prefer to do it the traditional way boring as it may seem
Depends how desperate you are …..like some bulging eyed gold prospector from an Indiana Jones desperate to hit a seam or ….you ‘d like to do it the old fashioned way.

times marching on - id like to see said gold laden chariot of some gun slinging texan ride into town and take Pools back to at least L1 and do what Wrexham are currently doing before another century is out. There is still hope yet with wor Raj - the hope being LL is a wizard in disguise and really can conjur some magic back into his Pools side - both fantasies though im afraid and the latter being the more believable just now !

surely there is a middle ground somewhere between our present ownership to one where we could overtake wrexham as the most hated club outside the premier league.

Thought York were nowt special to be honest, but obviously they have quality that can do something out of nothing. We played ok on saturday, never gave up and no way should we have conceded 5 but we did. Hopefully we can get a win this week and try and move on from it. Think the play offs are a bit of a pipe dream at the minute though, long way short of being a decent team at present.

We have to accept where we are, and be difficult to beat at home full stop.

as most fans only see home games at least that would keep the gates up even if our league position could be better.

exactly. points away have always just been regarded as a bonus where you only travel in hope. expectations on top of hope is just kept for the vic.

And we'll be a league higher as well. It will be tough.

I don’t believe that anyone here seriously believes that this incomplete Pools squad is capable of grabbing one of the two promotion routes back to the EFL at the end of the current season.

Both play offs and relegation are still a possibility this season, who knows? And to hope for the play offs this season is actually no more fanciful than declaring that next season we are f*cked is it?
Things change, form is temporary, personnel change, it's Pools anything can happen.

this is true- we didnt even have a striker and Oates was out injured a think.

it was after xmas we just romped it - still time then eh ?

need another injection of quality though - Sterry/Armstrong/Cass for me made the difference

It is interesting to remember that when Danny Wilson took us up from the fourth to the third tier, we had amassed 20 points from the first 17 games. We have played 17 so far this season and we have 21 points. One more.
It can be done so maybe we wait a tad longer before we put the knife to our throats. Nothing is won or lost in mid November,
The odds are stacked against us but that's not unusual is it for us lot.

It would be unusual if the odds weren’t stacked against us…

But don’t you think Danny Wilson had a much better squad than Pools have now, could he have get promotion with the current squad ?

That Wilson season was freak like at the start in terms of points dropped…I think we missed 2 pens first game etc..

We had a ton of excellent players at that level as proven by the unbeaten run when we clicked, there was obvious quality, a proven manager and an ambitious board…we have none of those things this year and those thinking we are in some sort of false position are kidding themselves

There are no such things as freaks…all that matters is the table on the final day.
When that season started we weren’t complimenting them on their ‘obvious quality’ or ‘proven manager’ as I recall…they clicked eventually…so this lot could. You never know.

We are where we are due to poor management imo, we could and should have more points on the board but for Sarlls insistence on playing kick and rush football. He was so incompetent he was leaving one of the best strikers in the league on the bench ffs. So truth be told we probably are in a false position.

You get what you pay for. Wilson like Turner were backed with IOR money. I understood that some of the players were on £2K plus a week then, that’s why we had better players.

Back then the better players looked worth their money, now I'd imagine that Campbell is one of the higher paid players in the squad but he's not performed as if he is.

He maybe one of the better paid players but he only came from Crawley who I doubt pay big wages and again not in the IOR region of pay scales.

Maybe but he was offered a contract to play Div 1 football for a Southern based club so doubt he's on buttons.
