As far as I can see there isn't any other result, other than his removal, that will do himself or his Church any good. He is not the head of the Church as that title belongs to the Monarch, so maybe the King might have a word. The longer it goes on the messier it will get.

Another church leader who thought that ignoring a serious problem would just go away in time, which has rightly come back to haunt him, deserves his fate imo.

Watching a discussion on this last night and one speaker had checked the background specialities of the leading contenders who specialised in things like equality, women’s rights, race relations, trans matters and other societal topics, but he could find no mention of God and religion.
The C of E looks more like a school for social workers.

You’d have thought believing in God was a given to be fair.

I feel for him as I think he’s a kind man, and him and his family are committed to finding resolutions in some really bad situations around the world.
That said, I also think he had to go, whether he’s been naive or negligent. Ultimately our sympathies have to lie with the victims. I’ve no doubt Welby is sincere in also being appalled by the actions of the c-t who abused the kids though.

A good man would have acted rather than rely on or assume that others would.

or just live in hope that the wrongdoings never come out. go back a good number of years and that might have been the case as there is nothing new where different types of sex are concerned. paedo,s were not a 21st century invention by a long way.

He gives the appearance of a good man….appearances though count for little…it’s actions that matter, he was found wanting.

Well yes, loads on here give the impression of being miserable, mean spirited, old men but some are probably tolerable people in reality.

(That was very much tongue in cheek for the avoidance of doubt!!)

I am sure allegedly loads of stuff went on in kids homes but the kids were too scared to report it or they would be threatened with getting thrown out on the street. In days gone by there would have been no Police clearance checks required to get a job in a childrens home I assume ?

the interesting thing is how many resigned and who they are who resigned when checks were made. know for a fact when referees were CRB checked years ago a good number and not the odd one failed to re register for the following season which included a good number with a good number of years experiance and looked to be going somewhere. if anybody has a thing for kids thats where you would find em and not the checkout at a DIY store.

I had an enhanced CRB check but you have a good idea what the police search is looking for specifically……related to the nature of your work…
