Apologies another non football topic, no real news from The Vic but it shows how much money the royals generate and how much we give them via the Sovereign Grant.
The taxpayer-funded Sovereign Grant will rise to £132 million in the next financial year, after profits from the Crown Estate increased to £1.1 billion.

I don't think me reading the article or otherwise would have any bearing on whether she pinched it or not Jamie.

I find it a disgrace. Frankly since the Queen died we’ve been subjected to Monarchy lite anyway. Charles is an arse, as are his brothers. If only we’d have had Queen Anne II. Now wouldn’t that have been something. I see little hope for the future either; William and Kate are ok but as a successor to QE2? they just ain’t in the contest.

I wonder whether all these estates will be covered by the changes to inheritance tax for farmers

While I understand that Charles inherits the Queen's estate without inheritance tax due to the fiddle the monarchy agreed with Parliament, surely that doesn't flow down to any of the other hangers-on?

Yes the Royal family even charge our Armed Forces to use their land to train on, no wonder they're so keen to support the forces.

Making a fortune from wind farms too, they even make £300k a year from a waste outflow pipe which pumps crap into the Mersey. Watch the Ch.4 Dispatches programme...
The King, The Prince and Their Secret Millions ..... it's a real eye opener.

Why wasn’t Kates or Charles ailments disclosed, surely it’s not too secret, buy disclosing what their ailments and what the symptoms were would be useful to others who might be having the same symptoms.

There is quite a bit of criticism of the Royals at the moment.
I can see it slimmed down to a level that still attracts the American and Japanese tourists but it will look a lot different to now.

Prince William making comments in the MSM about it’s been the hardest year in his life, he was fortunate his wife and father had funds to pay for private healthcare and not have to go on an NHS waiting list. The royals are totally out of touch what is actually happening in the real world.

Yes and his building about helping the homeless whilst getting free cash from the taxpayer. Feudal system still abounds with all the Royals and the other aristocratic landowners.

it will still attract tourists as the all the historic buildings will still be there plus places like stratford upon avon and the birthplaces of authors like the bronte,s that have zero royal connections. the chances of any tourists coming here are next to none if they expect to see any member of the royal family. do any of us who holiday in the usa expect to see their current president or their favourite holliwood star when they book a couple of weeks over there.

The yanks come to the U.K. to visit our historical buildings, most of theirs that are portrayed in the old westerns were eaten by termites.

Have an uncanny knack of popping off abroad to a Commonwealth neighbour in much warmer climate when the weather starts getting cooler here.

I don't have a problem with a slimmed down royal family. I'd rather have King Charles than President Blair or Johnson (who would also sponge of the masses). The IHT can be sorted out, all Reeves has to do is change it. Labour have a stonking majority. She didn't mind pissing off millions of pernsioners so another two shouldn't be a problem. Assets should be owned by the state and not the crown. All crown assests should be subject to IHT. Now the Duke of Westminster not paying IHT, that is an issue!

Also who buys these commemorative gold coins they get retired ex-newscasters to peddle on TV?

£69 now going up to £149 next year, big deal, I mean apart from the fact they're only 11mm in diameter (the size of a processed pea) and they always mint 3,999 to give the impression they're rare....jeez.

Only one per household  , damn I was thinking of buying 3998 of them.

The club shop could produce a pack of playing cards featuring former Managers on the front, let's face it they wouldn't have to go back many years to get 52.

the laugh is those who get their arse licked actually dislike them as much as other workers do. found out that from a manager we had who would talk all day about football and it slipped out one day that he hated arse lickers. forgive him then for supporting blackburn rovers years before shearer arrived.

Was it a good idea to have Diana’s sons follow the hearse at her funeral, Prince Philip, their grandfather, reportedly told the 15-year-old and 12-year-old princes: "If I do it, will you?"
