Just been on the Aldershot board and had to laugh. They call Higgy " Lily Savage ". Both are from Liverpool but it's not just that he does actually sound like Lily.

Sad news about the death of his dog which he mentioned on Saturday.
Absolute brutal experience saying goodbye to a loved pet as many on here will know.

Yes very true. I have missed my pets much more than some people who died.

yes, especially humans you have never met or ever likely to do but it helps the florists business for the proffesional moarners. at least when your pet does die they are never thought of as the best pet you ever owned unlike people who become saints on death even if they were sinners in lifetime.

I had a spell in the late 80’s when our lass would say so and do’s dog has to go to the vets to be put down and she was upset so I said you’d take it?.
Four times in nine months I went, but the trouble was on that short journey I built up a rapport with them and felt an utter bastard…so it stopped .
Soft bastard,. sadx

Same here. Think he could do a job for us (that isn’t manager.) Tricky Dickie Dosh has a lot to answer for!

its them bloody eyes when they look at you as if they know its their final journey. might be in my imagination but its a look i have never seen before. i,m sure in the case of dogs they know more than you think. why does my present one do his saturday morning walk when i come up to a pools game thats different to his normal one by pulling me in the opposite direction. the times the same and i dress the same so there is no give away.

Very intelligent animals cats n dogs.
Communicate with us with different barks n meows to let us know what they want.

Hearts of gold and very appreciative the ones that have good owners and that's probably 99% of us.

Fact of the day....cats don't meow at other cats...they do it to get attention from humans.

think the sadder time is when a pet runs off and his lost. usually its a cat or a bird that does it and how long and the effort made by people in this position. you know its somewhere but where and it would drive me mad. if dogs are missing for 5 minutes i panic especially if its getting dark. got a lucky escape the last time we played at accrington and got back to the car in a bad mood only to find the boot lid open and no dog. luckily he was sat just across the road but i,ll never forget it or the bastard who opened the tailgate in the first place who i,d be just about being released now if i,d caught them. at least when the big sleep happens you can move on unlike having a lost pet.

He is obviously a real and proper man. A man who admitted he had been crying over his beloved pet and was holding back his tears during the commentary.

Dogs come in all variations of intelligence..Ratboy, farm trained is able to sense your mood whereas daft but lovable Ruby acts like a puppy and it fascinates me when they are together to watch the interaction when they think you aren’t there….even though she’s a bigger dog he’s a more determined dog and orders her about with his nose.

i always do when the weather is cool and get there early to take them for a walk for at least a hour and leve water and a bit of food in the back for them. never had a problem before or since and if you walk through morrisons car park for the barnet game you,ll see my husky cross in the back of a green xsara, not a picasso, estate. lets say try leaving the house without them as i do if its warm and her in the kitchen aint happy with the constant howls and barking till i return. by all accounts if she does come up she says he has slept all the time. makes me jealous as i have tried that at the game without much luck.

I know you are a dog lover just a little surprised your dog would be happy to stay in the car. My dog would be doing somersaults if I left him alone. I suppose it's how you train your dogs.

could be to do with the types of breed you get. then there is the excitement of new smells they,ll get when they know they are going somewhere different once they get the hang of it. must admit if i owned a boxer or a sheepdog i would not bother as they,d wreck the car or i,d get a message to return to my car over the tannoy and face the ammusement of fans by owning an old car. then i suppose 2 hours layed knackered in a car is better than 8 if they are left at home everyday in a working family and a similar time if i did not take him to a match. remember years back some grounds allowed them in with leads but i never tried it at the vic. remember doing it at rochdale where they opened the main gate as my rottie at the time could not crawl under there gates. said they needed every penny they could get and would not turn anyone away. how the game has changed in 40 years with all the rules and regs clubs and fans have to adhere to and how much for the better has it been.
