makes Parksy " man mountain " his new Captain. Most consistent player this season and a true leader of the team.

I hope he was there today to see what a could side we can be when we play to our strengths. Some of the slick passing and movement to create numerous chances would have had Shearer et al positively salivating.
Not sure if they were bad, we made them look bad, or something in between but it was easily our most dominant display of the season.
A couple of weeks to prepare for York now which is likely to be a much tougher test. Hopefully new manager in early next week and maybe get a new manager bounce to get the season back on track.....but, this is Pools so anything could happen.

Parkes seemed nailed on for player of the season already in fairness

Amazing what happens when that southern clown leaves the building.

As most of the contributors to this board would doubtless agree, Sarll should have been necked immediately following the Ebbsfleet embarrassment. The full impact of delaying his inevitable departure may not be realised until the end of the current season. However, at the very least we could have had six more points in the bag and still be alive in the FA Cup.

Very true Joe. Stranger things happen but maybe just maybe the FA cup defeat could be a blessing in disguise. How often do teams in this division get the chance to have two weeks solid training ground time. It could be pivotal to a successful season dafter things happen...I believe that sometimes in life " good can be bad and bad can be good ".

Aldershot started of brilliant. Slick passing from back to front. We didn’t touch the ball first 5 mins. Soon as Mani scored we started to believe in ourselves. Featherstone was superb in the middle. The lad from Charlton was quick and making mincemeat of their left back. Mani was holding the ball up well
and even Grey was looking like his old self on the left. Meanwhile Parkes and Sas Davies were in total control at the back. Main positives for me. The ball was mainly played on the floor and we were using both wings. It was Pools best performance for a long time. Further, Brad Young wasn’t going long with his goal kicks on every occasion. Sometimes we need
Played it out from the back. As regards Aldershot their confidence just drained as the game went on. Should have been 5-0 to us. But the main thing for me is that we didn’t play like a pub team. Neat triangles rather than hoof ball. Yes not a play off performance as yet but looked like we are on an upward spiral. I actually enjoyed watching it and put the knitting away. Only kidding!

Agree about Parkes and Sass-Davies - they had a very comfortable afternoon and must have won 90% of their headers. To be fair though, in attack Shots didn't have any of the things that middling NL teams usually have to cause Pools problems - a couple of big lads up front, a winger or wing back on the right to torture Fergie and a long throw specialist!

Dan Dodds had his hands full at times but did well in attack and defence. His positioning is a bit suspect when the opposition switches play to the left but it's something he can work on.

Same pattern of triangles in 2 weeks at York.
Maybe add in a few oblongs n hexagons to really confuse them.
But main thing we got to be more clinical in their penalty area.

Anyhow a new target for the lads.
Only 7 pts from the next 3 games.
UTP.

well it seems a long time since i came out of the vic buzzing and on a high like i was yesterday afternoon. 2 nil was not a fair reflection off the game where i thought they looked a bit like the pre sarll pools on a bad day. no performance is ever 100% spot on but it was if you compared it to braintree and the rochdale ones. just showed up the fool what sarll really was and the i,m only following orders remark should have stopped in may 1945. shows how simple life and football really are when you do your best without having your ankles tied to achieve more.

Was it a case of the players not playing for Sarll as well as his piss poor football philosophy and tactics? Thought they all showed more energy and willingness to work hard out of possession yesterday.
More of the same after a 2 week break to refresh and build on that.

i,ll bet york will be thinking they wish to have played pools a few weeks ago. Like any club in this league they are beatable on the day and should only be respected but never feared. 5 games to go this month, some on paper that look difficult, but need a bare minimum of 10 points out of them as we are playing catch up and many of those above us will get a similar return as that.

had a quick word with one of our players and without fully admitting it i feel their opinion of him and his tactics were similar to ours. think our performances yesterday and the one at altrincham showed it was not just a one off game.

Id gladly take a ratio of 2 pts a game.
Should be a reasonable ambition now we Uncle Dazza free.

thing is to get a reasonable spot in the play offs that is a must. its not a miracle needed for that to happen as its only no draws but 4 wins and 2 losses gets that over 6 games. 6 draws look only good in stats of not being unbeaten but 6 points short of what is needed. the reason why i,d go all for a win at york and not play for just a draw unless its a last minute equaliser by us. go for a win or a draw could both end in a defeat but giving it a real go would make many fans happy especially for the future.
