Absolutely stupid. 16 and 17 year olds are still children in the eyes of the law.

The justification is "to bring in more fairness for 16- and 17-year-olds, many of whom already work and are able to serve in the military." Pure bollocks - less than 8% are in full-time work and only a couple of thousand are in the armed forces. Most are still full-time dependents of their parents.

My major concern is those with influence in the system for this age group exercise a strict neutrality on the subject of any politics related issues or topics.

Sixteen yr old brain not yet fully developed. Although there are some exceptions, by and large they lack the maturity to make such crucial decisions. Of course they are easily influenced which is why Starmer wants them voting: they will be easy to indoctrinate in the current left wing schools and FE colleges. I would like to think that even 16 yr olds will notice what a shit hole Britain is becoming under Starmer (yes and the Tories before them) and cast their vote accordingly but I have my doubts. once you had to wait to 21 to vote. so what you knew it was going to happen and cannot remember me and my mates getting uptight about the wait or asking why we had to wait to 21. just one of those things, but seem now youth counts hiher than it once did even when we left school earlier.
