I am dealing with a company in Yorkshire. I am in the process of agreeing a partnering framework agreement with them.

Three years ago this company had a terrible reputation for never finishing on time, and leaving jobs incomplete. The reason they alwats gave was that their labour would just bugger-de-bugger-de-do off to another job that offered a better rate.

Turnover of labour was horrendous.

And then a miracle occured. Britain started to get invaded by overseas workers. Qualified workers as well. Get that? I said qualified.

Now......the vast majority of these workers......are here for a reason......they make as much money as they can........and send most of it back home to their families.

So......the relevance?

Well...........its like this................so good are these guys.....the firm I am dealing with now employ over200 of them................full time.........on the books.

Due to this..............there are more people than jobs.............so the firm cherry pick, the best and most loyal workers.

It has resulted in a huge reduction in the turnover of staff, has increased loyalty, and best of all has made those jumping from job to job think twice.

The firm now has a top notch reputation, does a quality job, and most of its workforce dont leave early on a friday afternoon to blow most of its wages on drink.

Immigration works.

I know what they are.

But I am not one of those getting all het up about migration/immigration.

And just for the record.........the guys I was talking about havent taken "Our " Jobs.

They have just helped this company hang on to its workforce, by adding competition.........in that most of their guys are now more loyal.

the local hospital, and indeed every nhs hospital in the counrty, would be another good place to see the positive side of immigration. but you will never see the mail or the express banging on about us thieving third world doctors and nurses to look after us because its not what people want to read about.

theres two sides to every story. most people coming here from foreign countries do so to work, not to live on benefits. and yes a lot leave when the work dries up meaning they pay a lot more into the country by way of national insurance contributions than they take out. and some stay and make this country their home. personally id rather have grafters from abroad that want to work and contribute to society in the town than smackhead burgaling rarfs and drug dealing wannabe gangsters who contribute fook all and take all the handouts they can get.

I think the whole thing is a lot more complex than that and while I believe the current trend is a handy tool for maximising profits, curbing wages and trimming costs..... What a pity companies didn't invest in training instead ofquick returnss, but why train when you can ship in labour trained somewhere else and ruin their economy into the process, maybe we wouldn't have so many groups of wild teenagers and smackheads if we had an education system that trained them properly.
