Piss taking

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

Resident (Junior) doctors announcing strike dates 9 months after accepting 22% they now want another 29% because their wages haven't risen in real terms. Well not have many people's income risen in real terms, there's a cost of living crisis going on that's hitting us all. Greedy self centred bar stewards.

You have to question their maturity and mentality in general for realistically thinking they could even think about another pay rise never mind have the nerve to ask for one.

Just finished a new biography of Stalin, and in Soviet Russia Miners were paid better wages then doctors because the state valued heavy industry and the danger of the work….doctors and other white collar workers had the prestige of their jobs but miners and other industrial workers were better financially rewarded

I always wonder why Junior Doctors need to work such long hours (we are told up to 80 hours a week). Is it because of poor management or lack of junior doctors?

The whole thing needs an overhaul.
People training/studying/hours on placement, for 4 years to train as a nurse, only to be told there’s 9 jobs for 300 newly qualified nurses.
Bloody stinks.

Bloody Communists! loony lefties  I would take that with a pinch of salt, might be an element of truth in it, just like in the UK, some will say miners got paid more than 4th division footballers, which was not true, but even if it had been, look what miners had to do for it, dangerous work should be rewarded and it used to be.

Not many people seem to know, that when the NHS was created, the majority of doctors were against it, as they saw it as having a negative impact on wages, Many Drs took the p*ss back in the day, fleecing poor people. The Labour government had to offer them a massive financial inducement, in order for them to agree to the NHS. Remember, then, nearly all doctors, unlike now, came from upper class white British backgrounds, and many were no different from the coal owners of the day, in their greed and their view of the masses. Thankfully these days, I find doctors thoroughly decent people, especially the foreign ones, of which there are many, as the young upper class these days find there is more and easier money to be made as a banker

Very true. They are not gods but highly trained operatives (surgeons) just like a lot of others in society.

or that the nhs is seen as a monday to friday job. go there or try to get any treatment away from a and e at the weekends and bank holidays the places seem to be run by skeleton staff in the wards. illness is a 7 day a week thing and 24 hours a day on top. would love to know the survival rates of a heart attack victim at 1pm on a tuesday compared to 1am on the weekends and bank holidays.

And how many are discharged prematurely on a Friday to lighten the load when staff numbers are down?

Just been watching BBC Parliament and both the Health Minister and Shadow were scathing in their criticism of the Junior Doctors pay demand and strike action and will work together to stop this group getting what they want.
These "doctors" are trainees or apprentices in any other role.
I heard a quote from a Consultant who said " i dont take leave in August (when the new juniors intake starts at a hospital) as i dont want them killing my patients"

There’s a good point, from personal experience, but not mine.
