Joking aside I find it crazy thats some on here are so caught up on politics a subject nobody can really win. My view for what its worth is some of you really need to step back a little and engage your brains before jumping on your keyboards to reply or attack one another. I have followed some of the political rants on here plus looked at some previous topics and found quite a few posters seem to appear time and again in what looks like pack attacks.
Everyone is entitled to free speech and that can only happen on a forum like this if all moderaters are unbiased and I am not 100% convinced that is the case here. It must be very difficult to police the forum without some backlash but your role is to moderate not to delete or ban a member simply to back up your friends or stop a debate.
I noticed one particular poster who jumps on most posts regardless of topic and unfortunately acts like a dog with a bone and that would frustrate most. Maybe if this member could take a moment before jumping on so many posts It may prevent the pressure cooker atmosphere from exploding. He like most of you makes valid points in the many debates you have but maybe a little more thought and a little less attacking nature may result in a much friendlier forum afterall we are all Poolies at the end of the day.
Not sure about other posters but I struggle to read or post due to the bitter rivalry thats been happening of late and thats a great shame because this is normally a top banter site.
At a time when thousands of families are going through hell you would think you could respect each other and move on.

I hesitate to write this as abuse seems to be the default on here, but this is a sensible, intelligent message by someone who is depressed by the antics on what used to be an amusing and positive board.

It’s killing the board. I miss the humour so much, the tolerance and the long departed posters......now it’s turned into a sort of liberal KKK glee club where lynching your opponents verbally is mandatory and EVERYONE thinks they are right. Football and anything else please but no more politics.

Whilst I agree with much of the sentiment in the opening post, and agree it's been the political threads and the way they have been moderated (or weren't until the last weeks censorship and trouble causing) and certain peoples behaviour that have been the final nail in The Bunkers coffin I totally disagree with the suggestion 'politics' isn't allowed. Politics like this pandemic effects everything on just about every level in our lives, including football right now.

I am not sure you can say to people 'you can't talk about the current situation' or that you are going to move into a different part of the board. The Bunker or any forum shouldn't work like that, in the best days of this place the funniest and most popular threads were the ones that started in one place and ended up in another and it flowed because people talked about anything and everything.

We are current experiencing the most significant and unprecedented event in our lifetime. But we shouldn't talk about it? Or should only talk about it in a certain way? Seriously? Is that fair? What else have we got to talk about, we are all at home, nothing is happening apart from this. We all have anxieties and concerns. I agree with respecting each other but that works two ways, I have seen zero respect and still fail to do so from a couple of people. I ignored a fair bit of pretty nasty abuse from a newly crowned moderator (like nothing that's ever been said in the other direction) a few weeks ago because I factored that everyone is gong through a tough time and he maybe deserves a little bit of leeway. Maybe that should be considered by others. Ignoring fair and valid questions is not respectful. Mocking and trying to belittle people is not respectful. This 'abuse' excuse that has been contrived is a little puzzling because for me that situation got far worse during threads about Brexit and the election and nothing at all was done about that which is odd. Maybe that built and contributed towards this. Take ownership of your own behaviour don't make announcements about how you are going to change it just think about it and do it.

If it's being said that you can't question the government on here then it just supports the theory of censorship and trying to shut peoples views down because certain people don't like what they are reading which means it's all over for the this forum. It's more important than ever before to question right now because we all want the same thing, for the World to beat this virus and for this shit to end.

At the end of the day if you don't want to involved with talking about covid-19 and want to come on here to avoid it then that's understandable, don't read those threads, start some about stuff you want to talk about. If you want to be more light hearted be that, we all need a bit of that right now. I have had periods in the last few weeks were I have avoided the news it all gets a bit much at times but is it really ok to tell people what they can and can't talk about? This is what this all boils down to. If everyone is respectful towards others then no subject should be taboo (well maybe apart from petty theft and cb radio grooming including warm milk.)

problem with any subject that is talked about on here no individual can do anything about anything really. it could be politics, pools, football in general and other things. think a lot of frustration is caused because of this and brain acting quicker that you can type does not help. imagine we have all in the past had discussions about everything in pubs and at work which only very rarely end up with someone putting an uppercut on someone. everyone on here deserves their own platform but without need to slag or wind up fellow posters without a really good reason.

This isnt about what is discussed, its about how its done. We should all move on civilised like but not necessarily in agreement. The important thing is drawing a line and not keep reaching back over it. None of this 'OK I'll draw a line but.....'.

If someone wants to go into political issues in that depth and the with the venom seen on here for a now prolonged period, I respectfully suggest they find a board dedicated to bear pit politics.
I came on here for the self deprecating humour and football...and to take the piss out of life. Now it’s nasty.

To be fair don't see football coming back for a long time like. Of course I'd much rather even have stuff like 0-0's against the likes of Ebbsfleet and Dover than politics threads.

No not at all I take ownership of the stuff I post I am sure I have fallen short a few times but I always try not to and be as reasoned as possible.

If you are accusing me of being nasty or abusive towards fellow posters would you for once have the manners to back up that claim with evidence? All the posts are there apart from the ones that were deleted without fair reason.

In your defence I would say that you are blunt rather than nasty. Even in our spats I would never accuse you of being nasty, you have fought your corner and I fought mine.

People often come across like that on forums when disagreeing because it’s just text if you had the same conversation over a pint face to face it could be done with a smile and bit more humour even if you didn’t agree at all. I wouldn’t want to ever come across like that as that’s not me in real life believe it or not!

I certainly try to never get personal with people on here, I never would with someone I don’t actually know. Maybe I should have along with making loads of mental and unfounded accusations I might have been elevated to moderator

Au contraire PJ. Judging by the PMs I get what’s killing the board is the repetitive vitriol in the political discussions.

80% of the the threads that remain on the board are about the current situation and should be moved to your section of the board where stuff is being said you don’t like and can’t defend is being hidden.

The vitriol is not pleasant I agree but that situation was worsened tenfold who you made one of the worst offenders a moderator.

I'll second that. People are saying that they are now happy that something is being done about the bully boy tactics and ganging up on individuals who have the temerity to have an alternative opinion.
One of the consistent comments is about cliques on the bunker and that it has always been laughed at but maybe there is some truth in it.

Who for me on here who has always came across as very level and decent bloke, a gentleman if you like who has hardly ever dipped below those standards that most of us have resigned as a moderator (which he'd been since almost the start of The Bunker) when Derwent was given that title.

He's not posted since.

He was as incredulous as the rest of the other people being shut down about the UK governments handling of covid-19 and said so. A man who has no political allegiance at all.

But you put threads full of genuine thoughts and emotions in 'politics' threads that you and your minion offer vague one line answers to fair points and questions backed up by evidence then your minion progresses to immature insanse nonsense and deliberate trolling. But you question why people have found themselves becoming a bit miffed with this shit? Tens of thousands of people have died.
