Why change a winning team?

Because we can only play Poole if Mr P81 tell us too!

He won't. Monkhouse and Poole up front 100%, because it worked. Both had excellent games on Saturday.

It would be really unfair to drop anyone.

My only concern is the fact that we conceded 8 goals in the last 3 games.

I would change nothing. We looked good. Don't think Luscombe was as effective as he might of been on the right but may of been an off day.

Dont always agree with the don't change a winning team as through the 9 game unbeaten run I feel we should of changed it as it wasnt always effective but we didnt solely because of the results we got, some of which were fortunate.

Did Horwood play ok in left midfield?, I know he put the cross on for Poole's 2nd.
Could be an option to play Luscombe on the left and put Browny in on the right.

Defence is looking a bit shaky now, but theres no one to bring in to improve it. Poole and Monkhouse up front for the forseeable future. Liddle's the one in the middle whose place is under real threat now. Id prefer Luscombe in the middle than stuck out on the wing and although i wasnt in favour of Browny getting a contract, id give him a game on the right wing and get Luscombe in the middle with Murray. We need someone creative in there. We cant just keep playing the same way in midfield at home every time. Wycombe sussed us out and others will too.

Luscombe was quiet at times but there were odd times when he got his head down and ran at them (near the end of the first half he went on quite a run down the right and got us a corner)..I'd leave him in for a minimum of 3 games and let Sweeney or Solana sit on the bench.

I reckon Jack Baldwin or Paul Johnson in for Sam Collins would be a bold yet exciting move..... as both are quicker.

Tempted tostart with the same side and if needs be changes can be made during the game. However it wouldn't surprise me to see Brown on the right and Horwood or Luscombe on the left.
Tranmere look to have a well organised, mean defence so a bit of flair on either flank might be the answer.
Our defence has to get meaner also.

I agree with whoever mentioned Luscombe into the middle. You need an attacking option who can carry the ball at home in centre midfield especially at home and Liddle and Murray both too defensive. Luscombe in middle, Brown on right imo but i think he will leave it the same.

Luscombe needs a lot of talking to when we haven't got the ball by all accounts and got plenty from the bench to keep him switched on Saturday from a defensive perspective. If we are playing a 4 in midfield it could be dangerous putting him in the middle as yet although that's where I see him in the future once he has learnt his game a little more.

Sam Collins was excellent on Saturday again so don't see need to change him

I don't agree with this 'don't change a winning side' attitude, we need to play the best XI we have available at all times in the best formation and I'm not convinced Saturday was it.

I thought Wright looked dodgy again for both their goals and I'd get Horwood and Monky reforming their partnership that was so effective earlier in the season back on the left with Boydy back again upfront. Boydy would be so much more effective with the pace of Luscombe and Poole supporting him than Solano and Nish like he was playing with.

By all accounts Wadsworth will be giving Monky a good try upfront though.

I cant see Boyd getting in the first eleven for a while. Monkhouse is superb in the air and physical enough to act as a target man and Poole is pretty much our best forward at the club at present. The whole back four is looking pretty suspect now. Hartley has had a dip in form and were starting to ship goals. Horwood was always better going forward so i dont mind him as a left winger as his delivery can be championship class. Plus he knows how to track back. If we continue to concede goals like we have been doing, maybe Baldwin can be introduced gradually in the latter stages of games to give him a bit of experience and ease him into first team action. But Boyd and Nish? Definitely bench players at present. We look miles sharper going forward without them really.

i know he's scored 5 but i've seen nothing of boyd this season to convince me he's the answer, he does look sharper and is working harder, but he's not posing a goal threat.

He's nothing like the player he used to be.

There was plenty from Boydy early on to suggest he found SOME of his old form but recently this has dipped.

Boyds best ever season was when Porter was running at defenders allowing Boydy to find space to then work his magic, him and Nish were never going to be a combination that worked as they're both immobile. I think Poole could definitely fill the Porter role and I think it's a combination that definitely needs experimenting with.

Wadsworth clearly likes playing with a big man upfront though and thats not a role that suits Boydy so am not expecting to see it anytime soon. sadx

agree. He just doesnt seem to be sharp enough anymore. He's good to bring on and try and make something happen, but Monkhouse and Poole is a better pairing for me.

Going foward we look as sharp as we have all season with Monkhouse & Poole in there. I would certainly stick with that. Defensively we look dodgy now perhaps that needs looking at as well as moving luscombe inside as has been said. Boyd and Nish shouldnt feature at all at the moment, we should give monkey and poole time to develop cos let's not forget, this is only the second time they have done it and it already looks to be a great partnership/understanding (well at least more so than boyd & nish) so lets see what it may become if given time to flourish.

I wouldn't change it this game. Every one from Saturday deserves their chance again. I thought Poole and monkey worked well and should be giving a few games to see how it works out. I said it before Wycombe I'd like to see them two together. Liddle and Murray looked solid after a few rusty performances by both so should start in the middle although at some point I would like to see Luscombe there.

Although things went well on Saturday I still think that our best XI consists of playing 4-4-2 with balance on the left hand side. I would expect the team to be unchanged though....

monkhouse playing up front doesn't sound like the best plan but it sounds like he done ok on saturday. so same lineup with him and Poole upfront.

Its far better than both Boyd and Nish. Were you there Saturday? Thats a genuine question not an attempt at a dig. Just because if you were I'm certain you wouldnt say Monkhouse up front wasnt a good plan.

Tranmere are normally well organised this season so we deffo need someone like luscombe tucked inside to thread balls through like nobby would do
