Anyones kids joined the Junior Poolies this season or last ?
Just wondering is it worth joining,do the club actually take an interest in the kids after they cough up the dough & anythin else anyone knows.
I could look into the paperwork, but that wont tell me as well as people who have joined themselves

I'd like to think that the Junior Poolies is an integral part of the club's marketing- get them young, look after them, make it interesting and exciting for them and ensure that they're hooked.

I was in the Junior Blues when I was a nipper and it was great, the best bit being getting to be the mascot and lead the team out on my birthday as part of my membership, with my name printed in the programme. I think that every member got their name printed in the programme on their birthday and the leading the team out thing was a one-off on a specified birthday age.

They should still do stuff like this, but I dunno if they do cos my boy's not old enough yet. If there is something worth joining though I can assure you that he'll be getting signed up as soon as he's about 4 or 5 years old.

I would have thought H'Angus was integral to any campaign to promote Pools to kids. Surely he should be the figurehead. What are other clubs doing successfully? can't they find that out and pick the bones out of it?

That sounds sensible, why reinvent the wheel when you can pick up ideas from loads of other places.

And it would be illogical for H'Angus NOT to be the figurehead for it all wouldn't it? Let's be honest, since the mascot novelty wore off after the first incumbents antics (for us older folk) the only real purpose that H'Angus serves is to entertain and interact with the kids.

Defo worth joining. The welcome pack itself is worth a lot more than the cost of joining. You also get a card on your birthday. However the members Xmas party didn't happen last year which was a shame.

I think the scheme maybe needs a bit of a boost - it was great when it started a few years back, monthly prizes, competitions etc but has perhaps lost a bit of its momentum. Still worth joining though.

Like I said earlier, I was in the Junior Blues in the dim and distant past and got to meet players, lead the team out etc and I'm still supporting the team now about 30 years later. My brother missed out on the leading the team out stuff (I think he was the wrong age for the birthday thing) and ended up supporting Man Utd, so maybe stuff like that really works instead of only allowing kids of people who can afford it the chance to lead the team out for hundreds of pounds a go?

This is not a direct go at you H99 but more at the club. I actually find that hard to believe and shows a total lack of thought from people within the club. By club I mean commercial department (or whoever it is that deals with things like this)

Work in progress, we're into the season now, and how long have we had a junior Poolies section.

This should have been in place around June time so they could attract the young fans.

What's hard about it??? Lets think we need to attract the next generation of Pools fans so what will we do...answer Sweet F*** All.

Or lets see we need to attract the next generation of Pools fans what shall we do........

Every child season ticket holder automatically becomes a Junior Poolie
Every Junior Poolie gets a birthday card on his /her Birthday
Every Junior Poolie gets a starter pack of goodies when they join
Every Junior Poolie gets a chance to meet the players/management by having a open day type day at the club where they can attend with their parents

And that's off top of my head in 5 minutes......

GIVE ME A JOB I CAN DO THAT....As Yosser used to say

They had been a lot of work done, just waiting now for it to commence.

That's the bit I find hard to understand.

waiting for it to commence...........

We've played 3 games, when do they intend to commence it, sometime around May, when season done.

I'll ask you a couple of questions

1. How long(years approx) has their been a junior Poolies section
2. What has been in place for that section over those years
3. What have the club done over the years the junior Poolies section has been running to attract new members every season
4. How long are the children junior Poolies, if they joined this year at say age 7, is it for 1 season only or is it to say age 15
5. Surely no matter how long the junior Poolies has been running a lot of the work should be in place to attract new members and it should only be a case of improving some little things and adding a couple of new ideas. So all that work should have a designated employee who should have put those ideas/plans in to operation at a certain date. Or is that date sometime after the season has started.

Cheers.

This is actually a valid thread, due to the attendance from our first game of the season and fact that we need to attract new fans, the best way to do that is to get them young.

Let's hope something comes out of it and the sooner the better.
