After watching Draculas Daughter (1936) a wonderfully atmospheric film, my 14 year old daughter posed the question; “what if the vampire was Jewish”? A cross ain’t gonna work so what’s the defense? is there any defence? (sounds like Pools dressing room)

Torah law forbids consuming any blood - which is why there aren't any Jewish vampires (same goes for Muslims). They can however be werewolves - so watch out for that.

So basically when it comes to vampires we're all good with crosses. And garlic and wooden stakes.

(I sometimes think that everything I know has just been made up by someone...)

That's the gag in the film 'The Fearless Vampire Killers' from 1967. Alfie Bass plays a Jewish inn-keeper who gets bitten by Count Dracula.

When he goes after a bit of blood-sucking himself, his victim tries to defend himself with a crucifix. Alfie says " Oy vey, have you got the wrong vampire!"

That's one of my favourite fillums, the fact that Roman Polanski is in it has unfortunately tainted it which is a shame as it's a good watch and very atmospheric. Sharon Tate is in it too, who unfortunately came into contact with Charles Manson a few years later.
