I'm only in the town for matches and I can see a huge change over the last decade both in the state of the town and also the people around the place and speaking generally it's for the poorer imo. Yet from thousands of miles away Jamie has fond memories of nightclubs and a booming town (when even was that)?

So you haven’t lived in the town for the last decade so you are the one out of out of touch with the goings on in the town not me. You really need to read my posts PTID, I left the town after Covid, not a decade ago, the people or the town hasn’t changed much from then apart from a few more Turkish Barbers and shops closing in Middleton Grange even the charity shop the British Heart Foundation Shop.

Obviously your out of touch Sussex you see people glued to their phones, not looking at Facebook now but Tik Tok, it’s also an online shopping platform.Tik Tok has just under 30 million active users,
The 18 to 24 age group makes up about 36% of users, followed closely by the 25 to 34 age group at 28% therefore Burnham is trying attract the younger electorate.

Unfortunately I do read your posts Jamie, unlike you who read a few words of posts then make the rest up. What I'm saying is that I am indeed out of touch with the town, although I'm there much more frequently than you. I've seen huge change in 10 years. You've decided on past experience and flying visits the towns not changed much.
BTW which were the boom years for Hartlepool, you didn't answer when I asked earlier?

Things that have changed in the town include, pubs I used to frequent mostly closed, shops boarded up, loads of HMOs (raised by Brash in Parliamentary sub committees, proliferation of cat washes and Turkish barbers, loads of migrants walking the streets, boarded up houses and overgrown houses, almost every safety steward at the match is coloured, none of which is for the betterment of the town or people.
Like many other towns, going to the dogs at a rapid pace.

The United Kingdom ranks among the top nations globally, holding notable positions such as number 7 overall in country rankings and featuring top global institutions in higher education ?

Not according to the general populace, and Hartlepool is not the UK.
As the old saying goes there's lies, damned lies, then statistics.
Hartlepool has been a deprived area throughout my lifetime and it gets worse year on year and that's reality rather than nostalgia, statistics, or wishful thinking.

Hartlepool used to be the place with the most millionaires.
When shipbuilding was at its strongest and many of the owners lived in the town.
The docks were thriving, it was the place to live and work.

Sadly that was in the late Victorian ages and the town has died a slow death since.

It doesn’t take into account the very low cost of living here and the climate in Thailand.
I could not live on the basic State Pension in the U.K. without claiming benefits meaning it’s not a living wage to survive on.

I thought you had savings Jamie, which means you might not be able to claim any benefits back in the UK.

So for someone who has worked hard throughout his life and I assume you have Jamie, then your country has not rewarded you with a comfortable retirement?
So much so you have had to move.

Now that is a shame if you think about it, so how come that is the case Jamie?
What went wrong?

I didn’t have to move to Thailand because of the cost of living in the U.K., i could have moved to Spain, Portugal or Malta.i would still live in Thailand, the U.K. has not provided me with a comfortable living wage in my retirement. If I relied on the State Pension and wanted a comfortable living in the U.K. I would have to use my savings, the threshold is I believe any savings above £16000 disqualifies you from receiving benefits.
In Thailand i can live on the State pension and can use my savings/private pension for holidays etc.
Yes I did work all my life but some who have never can be better off in retirement with benefits,

Agree with you there Jamie on those who have not worked, yet they too receive the state pension, perhaps pension credit, council tax paid and the rent paid!

I've just got back from the shopping centre and it was like haveing a game of spot the English person..

And you never see these foreigners working. May be the odd 1 or 3 for Uber taxis

They getting a free life at our expense while we see Cespitization kicking in major style.

But some people don't have a problem with it and them for me are worse than the immos.

Once a town gets a mosque, it becomes a place where the Muslims want to come to.
I don't know if you knew of a Dr. Khan, but he came to Hartlepool I think around 1973 and his aim was to eventually get a mosque built in Hartlepool and establish a local population of believers. This he did!
Once the mosque is in place, the town will become a Muslim majority sooner rather than later.
So the face of Hartlepool of a white working town will become just a memory.

If people are happy with the changing of our towns, then like you KPG, I think they are deranged.
If however you make a noise about the changing face of your town, and for the worse I will add, you get called a racist!

Way back into the mists of time Man has defended his territory from invaders, it is a natural trait.
Nobody has ever called Frankie Drake a racist for doing just that. Is Zelensky a racist for trying to repel invaders???

Due to his security team Zelenskys life will never be in danger and you can guarantee all the donated money his country receives will partly filter into his rich lifestyle.

Meanwhile back in England once quiet peaceful villages are now living in fear of migrants.

Back in Hartlepool me neighbor was talking to his West Asian next door neighbour who was complaining about all the Africans and immos moving into our estate saying they are devalueing the price off our houses

Town centre area and lots of shops n Pubs have gone the journey and a big increase in scrounging bangheads and alcoholics drinking in public which I thought was against the law.

Hartlepool Deffo changing for the worst along with the rest of England.

Hartlepool England

RIP

And always be very wary now when walking the streets on your own.

need to remember that the believers were there before the mosque. there is not some kind of game going on with hartlepool being the head of the places to send immigrants. its happening all over the country and the government just cannot realise that by there actions everywhere are become ghettos instead of just earmarking areas who are more used to seeing immigrants getting more. from the immigrants point of view they,d be happier in london, birmingham and burnley more than places on the coast where they are at best just tolerated because we know where we,ll be if we didn,t. looking at south africa has the lot of the black population imptoved since the end of aparthied. no, but thy got a vote whether its used is a different matter. its just different races do not see eye to eye on many subjects and will never really get on however much you try or being forced on you. its fine seeing the propaganda shots of all kids playing together. it foes not carry on as much in later life when they leave school.

These politicians love the blame game.

But have no genuine solutions to fixing problems.

Looks like the only oaps who won't pay tax on their State Pensions from April are the ones who have no other private or works pensions.
Which will be a small minority.

Work hard n save for a good retirement all your life then lose it through taxation.

Or will something positive come out of this Autumn budget!

Piss the Oaps off then you lose the election.

Pensions taxed, relatively small inheritances taxed, death tax in the pipeline, all for the plebs of course who can't take advantage of the loopholes the wealthy can. "All animals are equal, some are more equal than others" - the mantra of all politicians no matter the party.

If pensioners were paid a living wage there would be no need for the triple lock, it means pensioners are not being paid enough in the first place.

I think it would also help if they did not tax the state pension but also any private pension under a certain amount.
The working class man has paid into the state pension and also been prudent to pay into a private one over the years.
Then finds that due to the frozen tax allowance, he loses 20% of his private pension each and every year.

Make the state pension tax free and tax the private pension once over the allowance.
Sounds fair to me.

The biggest concern for pensioners is the cost of Adult Social Care, if you have more than £23000 in cash/assets you have to pay for it. For decades, governments have kicked this issue down the road because they’ve seen it as too risky, too difficult, and too complicated to find a solution.

Lots of pensioners don't have £23k savings so hardly the biggest concern.
Bigger concerns are cost of living, not being able to get or dentist appointments, everything requiring digital expertise, not feeling safe on the streets etc

Its assets as well which includes your property, if your single you have to sell it, over 75% of pensioners own their property in England many bought them when the council houses were being sold off.

Still not the biggest concern, all the things I mentioned affect most pensioners, the care thing only affects those who need Care.

Obviously because the cost of living was cheaper and most people weren’t obsessed with the crap people spend their money on now…what people now see as ‘necessities’ would have been laughed at then.
People were happier then as I recall as a kid because compared to my gran parents generation they too were better off too.

Lots of pensioners don't have £23k savings so hardly the biggest concern.
Bigger concerns are cost of living, not being able to get or dentist appointments, everything requiring digital expertise, not feeling safe on the streets etc

basically its making it harder for them to do something that was just second nature to them. they were brought up to go to the doctors if they were ill and eventually got used to having to ring for an appointment or go in like the dentist always was. far too many changes being forced upon them they do not really want or need either but there is always a smart arse saying it does not bother there blind and deaf 107 year old auntie, so if she can manage so should you. way things are going death might be a good release from all the shit. wish i had a tenner for everytime i have said i,d hate to be 18 now.

10 minute YouTube video showing the French Police giving out life jackets, helping them into the boats and waving them off, we are giving the French millions to stop the boat crossings,

Just imagine the roles reversed.
We would 100% be chased back into the sea or gang murderer if you made the beach.

They know our countrya government is weak as piss and play the race card to get that free life.

A Panorama programme in 1967, how did people survive on take home pay between £12 to £15 a week ?

In 1967 a bag of fish and chips was around one shilling and sixpence, a pint of strongarm was around two shillings, so 7.5p and 10p respectively, meaning you could buy 160 bags of fish and chips out of £12 or 120 pints. These days you need around a tenner for fish and chips and up to a fiver for a pint of beer. In some places fish and chips and a pint cost considerably more.
In 1967 the cost of living wasn't as brutal pro rata to income. People didn't have two or three cars outside their house, more likely two or three push bikes, used the buses or walked to work or school. Different World.

1967 was the first year i bought a car. not the cheapest by a long way at £165 but it was a 4.5 litre lagonda with insurance costs for a new 20 year old driver being £12 for a year. Less than the tax for it which was just one rate for all cars with 4 wheels. got a few pence change out of a fiver it took to fill its 21 gallon tank which was just under a quarter of my wage but less than the £200 it would cost today as a percentage of what i would be taking home if i was working.
