Not sure which is the correct version, Downing Street didn’t fly the English flag during the qualifying rounds but are now flying it for the knock out matches ?

whichever way it is it might have been better not to fly one in the first place as nobody would have made a comment then.

I blame the sweaties
No doubt one of them will have objected, now their world cup has finished- as they never go beyond the group stage

It really is that simple.

He's Prime Minister - for now - of the United Kingdom, not England. Suppose he could have had England and Scotland flags up when the tournament started but probably didn't want to embarrass the Sweaties when the Saltire had to come down first. Which was inevitable.

But if the roles were reversed and we went out with them still in, they’d be going ape shit.

From Max Headroom to Thunderbirds, anything can happen in the next 3 years - I suspect everything will not be F.A.B.

Surely there's no headroom for putting up taxes. Rachel took a big bite and then said "I won't be back for more" - then came back for more. Meanwhile the price of everything food, utilities has rocketed.

I now pay £84 a month for water! £210 a month Poll tax. Over £40 per month broadband, it's become ridiculous.

So I don't know what magic wand Burnham can wave. There's a rumour that poll tax might go and be replaced by .48% value of your home tax. I.E. a 300K house would pay £1440 a year, that would suit me.

£105 for water and £335 for council tax each month, that definitely needs bringing down!

you and a few others might be winners but i,d guess there will be more losers. they need money and the only gripe i have is not the cost but how and where its spent.

A few examples of LLT.

House value £1000000 = £4800 a year

£150000 = £720

£100000 = £480

Good for the majority of Hartlepudlians.
If it comes off.

If your out of contract for broadband then I recommend switching to Rise Fibre.
I've just switched and doubled broadband speed.
Free installation and bill reduced from£42 to an average of £22 over a 2 year contract.

Sounds like you not on a water meter which would major style reduce your bill.

Who needs Martin Lewis

thing is its council tax not a national one . the revenue per house could be over 5 times more in the south east compared to the north and will the government make up the difference as expenditure in hartlepool cannot be much different to a town in surrey.

Can we? I guess you saw what happened in Makerfield which was a strong Brexity area? The silly fookers elected Burnham; a pro immigration, pro EU, high tax Labour lefty? What the fook? Just how will we get our country back? Not gonna happen.

Surely all revenue raised would go to local councils so those up north will be underfunded and those down south will be overly funded? If he goes through with it Labour will lose all London seats and he'll be out of a job.

Doesn't all CT go to central government who redistribute a bit back to local councils? I'd imagine any Land Tax would be the same.
Huge beaurocratic process to revalue land and homes before it could be in a e, don't think he'll have time to do it.

You really are naive, no wonder I take your replies with a pinch of salt, all Council Tax does not go to the central government. It is collected and entirely retained by your local authorities (local councils) to fund services in your specific area

It wasn’t a question it was a thought, you should have said does council tax go to the government ? Today’s English lesson finished.

Technically no, the Local authority is obliged to pay out to Police, Fire service and Social care which are distinct separate bodies and the biggest being the Social care precept all of which the Council has no control over….so leaving a percentage for local Government to spend, not the 100% it takes.

The first word of my comment was "doesn't" and the sentence ended with a question mark - surely by any standards or knowledge of the English language they make it a question?

so what if farage does go. doubt the popularity of reform would suffer unless he washes there dirty linen in public like they all have. about time we all forget who leads a party and concentrate what they stand for.

Technically no, the Local authority is obliged to pay out to Police, Fire service and Social care which are distinct separate bodies and the biggest being the Social care precept all of which the Council has no control over….so leaving a percentage for local Government to spend, not the 100% it takes.

.
I am aware of that Snowy.

If that’s the case, why did you say the Council gets to spend 100% of its money when it does not.

I was correcting PTID who said he thought all of the Council Tax went directly to central government.

Sorry to disappoint you KPG but it won’t be the Farage party for much longer, could be the Jenrick party.

Did you dream this last night……or was it another spoof diversion from reality our even another of your fantasies …?
We should be told.

Haven’t you been following the news Snowy, I could post loads of links, where journalists either The Times or The Telegraph saying Farage days are numbered although won’t see that on GB News in The Sun etc.

There's a lot of fake AI anti Farage stuff doing the rounds,Jamie ..take no notice of them, just a few cranks eh. ;)

Can you give me an example of any fake news about Farage, he is in the MSM today about receiving funding from a convicted criminal, it’s in The Times hardly a news outlet that prints fake news. I would post the link but it’s behind a paywall but just google Nigel Farage receives support from a convicted criminal and there are numerous headlines about it.
