Happy with that. Clark is a marmite personality to put it mildly, but there's no arguing with his management experience.

Is it just me or does the statement give the impression that Bromby and Partners have completed the remit they were given by LS? Hope so!

BTW, I'm taking the credit for the very idea of Lee Catermole becoming manager getting kicked into touch

I will get behind him as nobody knows how these things work out but I find it an odd choice really. Hes had no relevant managers job since leaving blyth Spartans in 2020 apart from a few games at an already doomed Rotherham. He can't have been sought after as nobody has given him a chance in the last few years so its just a strange choice for me. I certainly can't imagine he was 1st choice and I was expecting someone whos been managing more recently and had been at this level. But this is football so who knows!

Chris Beech appointed head of recruitment. What are Bromby supposed to be doing?

got to agree on all the points you have made. its a long time to be away from any job even if he has been employed in other capacities at clubs like scouting. if others were interviewed it does make you wonder what calibre they were. we just need to give him a decent chance as really what other option have we.

Whelmed by this appointment - however happy to be proven wrong. They will have my full backing.
Just relieved it's finally done and we can now start signing some players.

At least he is from the north east and has some geordie passion in his genes!
Proof of the pudding will be the players he signs and how well they perform!

Wasn't the appointment I was expecting. Thought the pre-requisite would have been they need to have proven they have won well at NLN/NL or L2.

It looks a stronger overall backroom staff though - especially if Steve Agnew joins as suggested by BBC Tees.

Proof will be in the pudding with the signings now. Go on Pools, give us a marquee signing this time around!

A Monumental improvement from Fevs.
Won't take no shit.
Happy it's all sorted.
Now let the upgrade signings arrive.
Get a rough idea at Novembers league table how it's Gunna pan out.

Maybe an FA Cup run to boost the Promotion objective.

UTP.

I don’t see how this is a monumental improvement, or understand the comments about his experience. The guys not won 30% of his games since he was at Huddersfield which was 15 years ago, outside of 6 games in Sudan of all places. 9 games at Rotherham and a spell at Blyth Spartans. I’ll admit both of those clubs were/are a mess, but still doesn’t fill me with much confidence. As above, why can’t we just sign someone who has been doing well at this level (NL/NLN/NLS), recently (not having their last decent spell 15-20 years ago)?

Hope to be proven wrong.

I agree, however there's nothing we can do now other than get behind him and the team. As you said, hope to be proven wrong.

Maybe he will be more hungry for success, especially with a north east team he will be managing.

Bit of an exaggeration - he had a year at Kilmarnock in 2016-17, kept them in the Scottish Premier League and left of his own volition to go to Bury.

I don't disagree that poaching a top non-league manager like Luke Gerrard of Boreham Wood would have been exciting, but he probably feels his next move is a football league club. The only people who know the scale of the ambition at Pools are those who've seen next season's budget for player wages. it's pretty obvious we're not going to be spending like Wrexham did or even York.

The best part of his 1st interview which was pretty impressive.
Was to get back to the EFL. ASAP.
Surely there was a miss understanding from Smithy saying I was a long term project.
Glad that doubt has now been resolved.

Lets have it

I used to get pissed on new year's eve, now I see the new year in then off to bed. I enjoy a drink but can't see the point of getting smashed out of me mind.
Merry yes, legless no. Can't see the point, apart from the fact that me pockets aren't as deep as they used to be. Pub prices are getting ridiculous. I do like a nice malt whisky though, preferably at home.

Poor Featherstone, he needs to rethink his outlook. He used to love telling us in interviews how well he had done and how many points and places he had risen under his management. "Football is a results business" one of his favourites. Then they boot him out and go exactly the opposite! One of the worst managerial records of anyone since his Huddersfield days in 2012.

There needs to be a bumper budget to improve his fortune.

I thought we had a new super analyst system, seemingly not used for this appointment.

Reading between the lines- he turned down a job to stay at Rotherham in the EFL to take the Pools job.
Suggests to me that firstly, he's on a decent contract- that is better than what Rotherham were offering him and secondly, Landon is serious about ploughing his money into the club.

Whilst my initial reaction to his potential appointment was fairly lukewarm - if he can deliver a decent amount on the pitch of what he said in his interview, the good times might not be far away. I particularly liked the part where he mentioned managing Huddersfield against Pools in League 1 - A realistic ambition which we've already achieved - as opposed to pie in the sky. We'd all be delighted to be competitive back in League 1 again!
Also didn't realise that Paul Baker (Pools legend of yesteryear) is his Brother in Law - and hence he's been to Pools quite a bit, down the years.

He wouldn't have been my choice to take over the reigns- however he's what we have and deserves our full support going forward. If he is still here this time next season- we'll have had a good one- promotion or not. Imagine that ONE manager/ Head Coach for a WHOLE season (mind blowing isn't it)?!

MINIMUM for me, is a home tie playoff finish 5th, 1st Round of the FA Cup and a FAT semi final.
Being greedy it's obviously Promotion and at least ONE WEMBLEY appearance- if he manages that, then we're in the realms of Statue territory!

Mr Clark also appears serious about having the squad virtually completed before the start of Pre season - which never ever happens at Pools- certainly not in recent history. I look forward to watching the quality players flow into the club over the next 6 weeks - only then will we know where we are heading next season. The main thing for me (other the a prolific goal machine) is DEPTH - as we know it's no good only having a decent first eleven - we need decent replacements too, for when the injuries start to kick in, in October.

Happy days are hopefully on the horizon.
The very best of luck Mr Clark- you have my full backing and I hope your stay is a fruitful one.

In Landon, I trust,

Mr Kettering

I don’t see how this is a monumental improvement, or understand the comments about his experience. The guys not won 30% of his games since he was at Huddersfield which was 15 years ago, outside of 6 games in Sudan of all places. 9 games at Rotherham and a spell at Blyth Spartans. I’ll admit both of those clubs were/are a mess, but still doesn’t fill me with much confidence. As above, why can’t we just sign someone who has been doing well at this level (NL/NLN/NLS), recently (not having their last decent spell 15-20 years ago)?

Hope to be proven wrong.

thats the line i,d have gone down for a new manager. it cannot be a coincidence that when we did we picked up challinor who was unlucky getting the sack with fylde. his appointment is not unlike graysons in some ways. more failures than success and out of the game in this country for awhile. it could be his last chance in management to prove himself at this and a higher standard as failure at pools would more likely see him somewhere like whitby next.

Spot on.
Everyone connected to Pools should be thinking along the same lines.
It's all about the budget now from Smithy.
Speculate to Accumulate.

Thats what the previous chairman never did.

Anyhow onwards n upwards.

I think it goes without saying that we have to trust Landon, as we have no alternative but to trust him. It is understandable, after what has gone on in recent years, that people are a trifle cautious. As Kettering says there are minimums that we hope are achieved and only Landon can orchestrate that so I'm sure we all wish him all the very best in his efforts to get us where we all would like to be.

The biggest indicator for me is if Pools sign a player that should 100% be operating in League 2 or you look at and go 'big signing'.

I remember Carlisle signing Linney out of nowhere - who was scoring for fun for Altrincham at the time. He looked destined for League 2 but Carlisle paid a fee and got their man. Linney is PROVEN goalscoring talent for the division.

Rochdale signing Mani D from us. Guaranteed goals. Proper, proper signing for a team pushing upwards.

If I see one of these appear at Pools, I will truly believe.

If we end up with Max Dickov from Mansfield, a prospect who hasn't scored a league goal, then it's time to worry.

LC may be a marmite character but I like marmite and hope he does insist on high fitness levels. For a professional footballer, high fitness should be a priority but I suspect that the introduction of substitutes has made the ability to perform for 90+ minutes less of a requirement. The number of goals scored late in games is imho the result of failing stamina which affects concentration levels.
I would like to see us to mainly sign young ambitious players capable of moving up when the much needed promotion is achieved.

I still remember the Hartley transfer window! Shut your noise, like I said then and was proven correct (and you admitted!)…you know literally nothing about the game

Get a life
