Think Fev has done a half decent job with the tools at his disposal, given the situation.
Probably done us a favour not reaching the playoffs as it's given us the maximum preparation time for next season. The last time we went up, it really hindered the prep for the following season - admittedly it was strange times what with COVID but we had about a four week turnaround between seasons AND Raj still at the helm.

The penny pinching fucker (Raj) wouldn't give Challinor a decent contract to stay- and that went on for months before DC understandably jumped ship at the first sign of a half decent offer. The likes of Oates left for Mansfield for the sake of a few quid a week and the squad quickly unravelled. Let's not forget the year we were relegated the club actually made a PROFIT - though we've clearly paid for it ever since.

Let's be honest there was no way we would have won the playoffs this season.
Would I have taken a 10th place finish at the start of the season- for Raj GONE and fresh investment into the club from Landon had it been offered- I'd have probably snapped your arms off!

This is OUR time now- Landon isn't guessing like Raj did - he's taking advice, setting the foundations and structures from the ground up, to give us the platform for take off- buckle up chaps and enjoy the ride!

I'd say yes, a little bit more attacking formation and mindset, particularly at home and against the lower teams would surely have seen us get the handful of extra points we would have needed.
We've won only 6 out of 18 games this year, that should and could easily have been 10 or 11 imo.

NF was never going to rock the boat - no doubt his mentor Lenny Lawrence told him not to! Seems like the new owner liked it that way as it allowed him to develop his project the way he wanted.

A Dave Challinor type would have been relentless in pushing for a competent second keeper, cover for two injured centre backs, a powerhouse in midfield, a proven goalscorer on loan (like Richie Bennett in 2021)...

In answer to the question at the start of this thread: In my opinion we wouldnt have got promotion even with a decent manager because we simply dont score enough goals. Also, as others have said, there is large problem with inconsistency for example losing 0-3 at home to Aldershot yet beating Carlisle 3-1 ? Whats all that about? As I have said before, teams in with a chance of promotion do not get humiliated 7-0 at Wealdstone regarless of the travel.

It’s a fact though that new mangers can come in and make players perform beyond their original performance…fitness is second to psychology.
Sometimes you just have to get them to believe in themselves…..never found Fev inspirational… if he was an airline pilot, when he was giving his passengers the preflight talk they’d be fighting to get off…to anyone who likes Father Ted, he’s the Father Stone of Football Msnagement.

i,d let them off with that aldershot result and the woking away one. a case of playing teams at the wrong time as both started some form of run around the time we played them. carlisle was a bit of a shock result for fans of both clubs but i,d guess now even the relegated clubs have at least one shock result of their season. still not convinced that the weadstone result was one where they hit form for the day and we just had an off day. it was far worse than that second half at gateshead under phillips which looked totally different.
