2-1 to the Pools.
Parkes brace.
5701 including me.
Only 2 lasses on the pie counter.
Perhaps Mr Smith could lay on some Tater Tot Hotdish, Juicy Lucy or Walleye?

1-3
5447 - lots missing first 10 minutes as only half turnstiles open
Run out of food and drink
Reid isolated as lone striker yet again
Sheron sent off
Crawford to run the show and score
Going to put a bet on Alty as that'll guarantee us a point at least though.

See that Louis Stephenson has gone out on loan. Aren't we short of full backs ? ( John suspended, Topallaj sent back ).
Obviously not in Nicky's plans it would seem. What message does that send to our young kids ?!

will the extra fans help or hinder the team. could go anyway today as opponents love to burst a bubble. best thing would be a comeback from 2 goals down and a screamer of a shot going in late in added time for us.

If NF uses his non aggressive formation/tactics then he only has himself to blame.

In one of his many prematch interviews this week he reminded us that Alty are in a false position
And their recent poor form was because of who they were playing.

What he did not mention is that Alty are that good, That they went out and signed at least 4 player's.
FFs i don,t dislike NF but his logic is childish.

You have to get through to your players the they are better than the opposition, Individually and as a team.

Bold positive prediction!

4-1 home victory - McNally, Reid, Miley & JOHNSON to score with Crawford scoring for them

1 each at Half time
We have a blinder in the second half, score from 2 set pieces and seal the deal with a late penalty, backed by a raucous home following!

Crowd 6464
235 robins on attendance

Pools 0-2 down at half time - Langdon visits the dressing room at half-time and promises them all a weekend break in Minesota if they can turn the game around 2-2.

Decent performance, a very well taken penalty given the delay and a great start to a new era.

Very nervous watch but the three points are welcome. Glimmer of hope from Folarin. Let's hope he can keep it going. Needs to start on Tuesday. Daly got into the box nicely and could have had a brace. New goalie looks a box commander. The tactics however were dismal, boring and totally lacked invention.
Finishing on a high I was delighted with the attendance.
NOW GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO SHOUT ABOUT.

I see there were ten bookings. Six of theirs four of our's. Was it a violent game or was it a card happy ref? When was the last time there were ten or bookings at a Pools match at the Vic?

The referee was a pedantic old woman of a referee…dead fussy and scattered yellow cards like confetti…the Altrincham players seemed very delicate when anything approaching physical contact was made and fell like a plane whose wing had fallen off…and he rewarded them till the penny eventually dropped.
Rough Game…? Never.

Thought they shaded us on quality, especially first half. The game signified more for the club though - & at least we bucked the trend of the playing aspect spoiling the party. Good to get a win to mark the occasion.

On the footy... Feaths keeps talking about bringing more attacking players into the team in the transfer window - but he needs to start playing a formation that allows them to play. Brown may as well go back to Hull.

He talks about getting players closer to Reid but it just isn't working. Charman occasionally manages to make something happen but Campbell has become fairly anonymous again.

He needs to grow some bollocks & start with wingers on Tuesday and change the system because until Folarin came on, we never looked like scoring. He's still not the answer (Folarin) but it was refreshing to have two wide players in Charman/Folarin both having a go at their full back. The goal opportunity (penalty) comes from exactly that. We need more of it. It's dire in quality/X.G/chance creation, which makes it a tough watch.

I listened to his post-match and he talks about creating a playing style or system that will keep the fans in. It feels wrong to have a moan after a win/occasion like today - but he needs to practice what he preaches now because there will be fair weather fans who were in there today who thought that was a bit of a snooze.

An example of how bad the ref was - McNally went down in their area and stayed down a very short time, when the ball was dead he went back and made McNally who was back on his feet, leave the pitch for 30 seconds even though he hadn't had treatment and the physio never went on the pitch?

Good result, shite atmosphere after the kick off and throughout most of the game entirely due to there being nothing to get excited about. Reid was isolated yet again although I'm sure Fev will tell us he wasn't?
Not sure how Charman got mom ahead of either Parkes or Miley who were both excellent?
Folarin and Daly both made an impact.

Not enough men in the box as usual and when we did lack of quality . As usual no support for Reid . Whatever Featherstone says is bollocks . Tepid performance from a tepid manager . He won’t change . Felt sorry for the crowd . Bad enough watching it here . Not sure about the penalty would have to see it again

This 100%
Should get anutha lucky narrow win V Gateshead on Tuesday with at least 1200 saying fuck that shit twice in 4 days.

I've written this season off but Howay let's start next season off with a proper Manager.
Looking back an horrendous decision binning Larry for this muppet.

As others have said, great atmosphere before the match and lifted again in the second half once they gave us something to shout about.

First half was truly awful as was the referee for the entire game.

Thought the new keeper did well particularly after he shanked his first touch of the ball.

Think we’ll be stuck with pretty much this till the end of the season but needs a major overhaul and refresh going forward into next season.

Did anybody really believe our new owners were going to turn up with a top team in their baggage…?
It’s the start of a transition, anyone fantasising there would be an immediate change is a bit naive.
For now, a bit of patience is needed till the changes start.
We got those three points though

Yes, it will take time. The new owner has money but he is not a an Arab oil sheik or a Russian Oligarch. When the Uggla family took over at York in June 23 there was no instant fix and even now, promotion is not nailed on. Pretty sure most of us know we need to be patient.

It works 2 ways though, the team need to start giving the fans something to shout about and get behind. The crowd today was very subdued because the infield performance was horrendous, at least there didn't seem to be any having a go at our own players or even the manager though.
The game is about scoring goals and both teams looked as if they wouldn't have scored if we'd played until midnight. Think there'll be a few who were there today for the first time in a while who'll swerve Tuesday.

I’m aware patience is needed. However, time after time match after match we just don’t see even the basics played . I’m sick of seeing the same thing . If you’re not bold and don’t get men in the box, if you don’t lift your head up when you cross you cant score . It wouldn’t be so bad if it was the odd game . Apart from Rochdale which must have been anomaly you just know what you are going to get. Watched a bit of Landon’s interview and he stated we are still looking at the play offs . I’m sure he doesn’t know much about football . Then again neither does
Featherstone . Lucky win. But the majority of this team need chasing. Goalies debut was ok. It was a hard watch for me . Glad next match is an evening game so can watch it in the morning .

I haven't posted in a while for one reason or another.. totally agree with people getting disappointed with fevball, im finding it a bit dour, I definitely think we could be a bit more adventurous. It's not like we are playing Barca. Sidewards, backwards at home for seventy minutes is really not doing it for me. When we take this approach all it takes is for the other team to score first, then were fucked, a la Yeovil and Scunthorpe. I think we have enough in the tank to take it to the opposition, the only player who seems to have anything in his ball bag to create something is Charman , but you can't expect him to carry the attack on his own. Folarin changed the game for me and is worth a start on Tuesday.
I can't understand how we go to Rochdale and take the game to them, then revert to chuckle brothers football.
The only side I've seen this season who I've thought is a cut above is Boreham Wood, every one else is worth having a go at. Attack, attack... attack, attack, attack...

Glad to have got the win (especially when it didn’t look like a goal was going to come). Poor game between 2 poor teams in all honesty though. Altrincham were basically time wasting from the opening minutes, and Pools were just struggling to pass the ball to each other. Charman saw a lot of the ball but did very little with it, and Campbell out wide just never needs to happen again. Surprisingly, Daly (and even more shocking) Folarin looked lively when he came in. Daly definitely should’ve scored that header though, not sure what happened there.

Need a couple of wingers through the door, and if he’s not going to play Brown just cancel his loan. If Campbell isn’t getting played out wide ahead of him he’s clearly not good enough (or Featherstone just loves Campbell, which is possible). Also, don’t want to see both Hunter and Sheron starting together ever again, especially at home against a team near the bottom. Good to see McNally back, definitely not a RB, but did well given the circumstances.

Landon might not have given up on the play offs but Featherstone obviously has.
In all honesty we're as poor a watch as we were under Sarll imo. We barely strung 2 passes together all game.
Too many square pegs in round holes and too little attacking intent, 3 shots on target at home against a team struggling at the wrong end of the table and us still remarkably within view of that 7th spot.
Benn is poor at RB and worse at LB, McNally on the right of a back 3 is fine but not RB in a 4, Sheron and Hunter is just dreadful 1 or the other please, Campbell is not a winger, etc. Sticking rigidly to your preferred formation by playing people out of their preferred positions simply weakens the team, play your best players in their best positions and adjust your tactics to suit is usually a more effective strategy although that's probably not in the modern day coaching manuals but surely someone on the coaching staff can see how poor we e been in the last 8 or 9 games apart from Rochdale.
Just try and win every game FFS, we'll win, lose, or draw some but it's better than this turgid protecting the clean sheet shite every game.
The owner deserves and will get the patience of the fans I'm sure, Fev however is another matter altogether.

Some interesting after match you tube videos from the manager n goalkeeper.

Fevs Takeing no responsibility for the lack of help to Reidy.
And then blowing up his own arse for being a tactical genius 2nd half that won us the game.

And the keeper is in no doubt that we Gunna be in the play offs.

Lets see how the York n Carlisle games go.

Maybe they know there's a pot of Gold to be unleashed very soon before them tuff February fixtures.

The Chairman n Keeper

But I do expect a Summer of Upgradism to have a proper challenge at that top 7 from August.

thats what you get when a referees only sees black or white. by the laws of the game he was correct in most of his actions including our penalty where we have all seen similar not given. bet his assesor loved him unlike one who used common sense and would be marked down because of it. 10 cautions in a game like that my arse. you get more bodily contact down morrisons than that.

The owner deserves and will get the patience of the fans I'm sure, Fev however is another matter altogether.

we will never see a good game at the vic when we have to suffer hunter and sherron out on the pitch together. fine away from home when you want to keep things tight and get a point or sneak a win. badly need someone else up front and hopefully Smith sees it the same for a top target man to come in. one for the future as well as for the present day.

UTP.

be better letting the keeper do all the post match interviews. at least he can talk and sounds more positive than fevs ever will.

I thought it was dire too…and this definitely isn’t the future of anything, because above all else it’s so bloody boring and going nowhere.
But the point I’m making is…..that it was never going to change overnight, we’re moving into a period of change and hopefully the new owner is taking advice from outside the club to make the changes we so desperately need.
