..the first sign of madness is when someone keeps doing the same thing even when the end result always comes out the same. So if managers keep failing to motivate the team we have to start asking is it the team? I see no desire in them, no hard edge, no willingness to mix it for the cause..... I see a casual approach, a sloppiness almost.
As for Wilson, the new manager whoever they were should have been brought in as soon as Scotty went, to give them a feel for the team and possibly a chance to save us from the drop even. But it wasn't to be, the due process was a protracted affair and time was of no consequence it appeared, when actually it was vital!! It appeared to me that Cooper had lost the ability to motivate the team, Scotty was swept out to sea and Stepho was babysitting and all the time we seemed to be drifting on the pitch. Whoever came into this job was going to have their work cut out, that's the trouble with being a manager, whatever you tell them, they can go out and do just what they like ...and you'll always get the blame.
The reason managers get the sack...because they can't get the best out of their team, we don't have a team, we have a group of individuals all playing their own game.

Apart from a run of two or three good games that just happened to put us within eight minutes of the Championship, we've done nowt for 18 months.
That's what I call total collapse.

I don't know why we've collapsed and neither does anyone else. It's not because Ritchie's gone out on loan; it's not because Adam Boyd has been sold; it's not because Wilson made mad substitutions last Saturday. I'm not even sure last Saturday is significant in the overall picture.

But we are where we are and no one can deny that. The six glory years have gone. It was part of our history.
Now it's all got to be done over again.

Sorry for not offering any solutions.

If only it was that simple, no non league team would get beyond the first round of the cup, no second division side would ever beat a first division side, no first division side would ever beat a championship, and so on and so on etc. ANYMORE UNREAL SCENARIOS.....?

I don't think the glory years are gone, I just think we've hit a bad patch, a long one admittedly, I don't have a clue what to do either, but what's the alternative?

OK that's fine. It's an approach that has to be considered.

BUT...

1) We brought players in who we were relatively pleased about last season and it didn't change shyt. You could even bring Steve Gerrard to Pools but there'd be no guarantee he'd fit in. And when they don't fit in you're left with them on your hands.

2) When we tore the 4th division apart last time it was with a settled team (strikers excepted, as always). Ditto for our first season in Div. 3. Not ditto for the last third of our second season in Div.3 - which is when the rot set in.

Anyway, let's assume we find exactly the right players we need (and I'm not writing any of the latest acquisitions off yet). By the time they're bedded in and we have a settled team it'll be Easter. So that's when we can expect to start seeing consistent results. Too late for this season I'm afraid.

HOWEVER...

That doesn't tell us why the present team isn't performing. Apart from the eternal left back problem, we have good competent players for every position.

Players like Matty, Dimi, Eifion, Joel, Sweeney ... they were all there when we set up house in the top ten of Div 3 for two seasons. They were good enough then but none of them is cutting it now.
Did Scotty's "overachieving" remarks have more truth in them than he was given credit for?
