Starting 11 for the National League Cup game against Leeds includes 5 who played some part against Boreham Wood (Lavelle, Nolan, Popov, Hunter and Hugill) plus Fisher, Eccleston (ban doesn't affect this one), Penman, Penprase, Gibson and Bondo.

The competition is over and done with for Pools after tonight. Good - should never have entered it!

2-0 up at the minute like...

I think this is the strongest starting 11 we have used in the competition so far. Would be good if we could actually win a game, meaningless though the competition is.

Bondo (goal machine) and Popov have both scored. The flood gates may be opening.

I don't know why these games aren't available to stream - I think the National league underestimates how many Poolies around the World would cough up a tenner to watch a pointless game against Leeds' under 21's on a dark wet Tuesday night (I can think of three of us at least...).

What?, we've won a cup match?, seriously?, we haven't won a cup match in any type of competition in 27 years, surely that's a misprint?, players need to be drug tested, rabbit away here, all bets cancelled till enquiry concluded...

Thanks for the info. I had no idea that there still was a National League TV after Dazn took over the league games.

It's bollocks. Pools won 6 cup ties in season 2021/22.

Mind, it was 3 years since the last cup win - 5-1 away to City of Liverpool in the FA Trophy.

Jamie, I think Clark never actually turned up for any match as an actual manager….just another North East big three ‘celebrity’ manager to supposedly appeal to our fans…. who crashed on take off.

Guess this means nothing much in the grand scheme of things but it’s still good to get a positive result

Hopefully a dummy run of not to sit back on narrow leads and create unsustainable pressure through our weak midfield.
Best form of defence is attack under this current team I'd say.

Maybe tweak it now and again next season when we finally improve our midfield and release the shit and never gamble on crocks.

Need to stop this circle of madness.

Some might think I'm overreacting. The league table answers that.

UTP.

A positive from the game could be an increase in confidence for some, scoring might give Popov and Bondo a lift.
From Saturday it would certainly seem that our best form of defence is a high pressing game and to be fair to our midfield they did a good job in the 2nd half (up to the substitutions that is) of stopping their midfield from creating much at all after they'd passed the ball through and around us like Barca in their pomp 1st half. Also 2 of the goals came from midfielders. Pace and width on the wings would be higher on my list of priorities than central midfield, not saying we'll find another Cleary or even Sinclair but we could definitely do with a Cleary or Sinclair type.
2 weeks to improve fitness levels and practice Wilds tactics should see an improved 90 minute performance next Saturday I hope.

the whole of last nights team need remembering until they are invited back for a legends night which after last night is really deserved. matchworn shirts from last night will be the most expensive of any other.

Probably many were wearing gloves and leggings as they do these days, and when I think of our brutalist PE teachers at junior school would order you to take your vest off underneath your footy top then send you out in an arctic breeze for an hour without a break...cuntz.

Prepared me for life when you’re getting soaked to the skin instead of being sat in an office next to the radiator, bitching about a non existent draft….that and the money

worse was P.E. where they came in with a big overcoat and gloves on saying cross country run today boys and they went straight back into the staff room after sending us out. could bot see the point of running then and still cannot see it now. other animals only run for food or play and not for the sake of it.

I'm the same, don't like any form of physical exercise unless there is a ball involved with the exception of shagging of course.

A gust of lust.
Wait for if you must.
Then a simple thrust.
